You’d just stayed up on the last day of the season, by beating us, your owner wanted out, you were annual relegation candidates, but flying or something.
2nd last. We had turned a corner with Allardyce, we had a cracking team with some really good players and had probably been beaten 2 or 3 times at the most, that year. The club was bouncing and they was a good vibe about the place. Moyes came in and ****ed it up. Worst ever manager at Sunderland in my lifetime. Everybody ****ing hates him lol
Moyes for United was a catastrophic failure and I’d disagree it was a poison chalice, he could have made a good go of it if he didn’t ****can an entire coaching staff that had delivered trophies to bring in his plonkers. Although in hindsight I wish Moyes was retained until we signed Kroos.
Yeah I could not believe he did away with the back room staff Literally stabbed himself with that move Really strange - never got that - gave himself very little chance for success
Moyes was always on a loser at our place, Followed SAF with the man as his reference, lost virtually the whole defence at the same time (never gets mentioned) and said all the wrong things. I think he was dealt a really bad deal, could he have made it who knows but i would never judge him on his short stint with us.
Missed that bit off my post. Stupid thing to do but i guess he wanted allies in the club/dressing room.
Tbf I would understand that - if it hadn’t been that back room staff They were awesome (if I am remembering right lol) - wasn’t it Phelan - and isnt him who has come back ? I don’t think it’s a coincidence that you guys are starting to play better since his return Obviously I don’t pay full attention to Utd but it looks that way to me I think that Utd are in with a very strong shout this season
Talking of Fellaini, I remember this like it was yesterday. One of the funniest things I've ever seen a player do on the pitch please log in to view this image What a fcking mess he was
Call Fellaini as much as you like, the man was a beast in what he was asked to do by Jose. Good footballer no. He did come on many many times and save us or stop the rot though. Getting overrun in midfield call Fellaini to break it up, last 10 mins and getting balls pumped into the area call Fellaini to clear them, last 10 mins and need a goal call Fellaini to cause havoc in the oppo box (and quite often gaet a part of his body to score one). The man was not a world class player but had a lot of uses at the time and did his job well with what he had.
He did a job under Jose. I never rated him at United though. He typified everything wrong with the direction the club was heading in at the time. With Herrera sat on the bench and Fellaini in midfield. Just wrong.
Yep, not what we were used to as a United player but very important with the squad and managers we had at the time. I loved the guy, gave his all every time he played which was much more than some of the "better" players did at the time.
Some of us cynical types think that maybe SAF chose Moyles to make sure his legacy could not be upstaged by a newcomer
Fellaini was a bastard everyone wanted in their team…the snobbery of United fans gave him a bad rep…they bought a destroyer when they craved a Xavi…not his fault. I remember him saving United many a time having come off the bench with 10 to go.
