I cant link it but the daily fail are running with the elmander and other lad From Brescia story, per the beeb gossip today

Saw that. The beeb made it sound like a double swoop, whereas the rag sounded more like an either/or, which I would suggest was more likely.

Can't believe we'd be after both of them?

true, but if the fee is low it could be 'stop-gap' signing to bring in some experience to mix with some of the younger players

I think your right, especially considering he is going to be third/fourth choice striker. Does make me wonder if Becchio is going to have another season on the benches though, what games is he actually going to feature in?, maybe CH will give him a shot against Hull.

becchio is quite clearly back up. he's there in reserve in case we get injuries or suspensions. why are some people unable to fathom this?

I am able to "fathom this", thanks for your concern :), my post was about whether he's going to get a look in so we can see what he can do. I can't see CH keeping him on the bench all season, surely he will get some minutes.

IMO, if only one more striker comes in, Becchio will stay as the 4th striker, possibly with short term recallable loans. If two more come in, then he will be loaned out for the season.

I make it about £35M they have spent this window. And Arsenal have spent...............!!!!

£35M spend v £0 spend? False comparison and a bit gratuitous I would say. Southampton are spending to try to get somewhere approaching touching distance of Arsenal. Arsenal need players to get them closer to winning the League and into the latter stages of the CL. <ok>

A fair few sources (of various reputations) reporting on the Elmander rumour now.
