Looking at his Wiki page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johan_Elmander), it does seem that he has played a lot as CAM as well as playing as the roving forward behind the primary striker. Could well be a good solution if Toivonen does decide to stay at PSV.
Hooper is only 2 and a 1/2 inches shorter then Holty at 5 feet 9 1/2 inches. RvW is an inch taller than Holty.
How familiar are you with the quality of the SuperLiqa outside the top4? Anyone who plays as a forward for Gala, be it a lone striker, in a two, or behind a main striker, is going to score a hat full of goals. Elmander made a name for himself when he scored twice against Besiktas, unfortunately, his general lack of contribution has eroded that support both within the club and with fans. He has been available for months - most fans seemed to think he was heading to Hull. I really wish I could be more positive about him but he's simply not a player, I believe, Norwich needs or will perform well. A really bad decision to sign him, even free, if indeed, it happens.
Fair enough - it is after all a forum for discussion and differing views! But, with all respect, I've seen him play many times and you don't seem to have, at least recently...How many Gala forward's don't have a ratio of at least better than 1 in 3? Well, Elmander last year for one. Can't think of anyone else. As a comparison, Burak Yilmaz scored 24 goals in 30 games. Umut Bulut 12 in 26 - and contributing far more all round than Elmander...God, I wish we'd signed him!!!!
In all honesty I haven't seen him play since his Bolton days so you're right in that respect. I find it difficult to believe that he has declined as much as you are suggesting though. I don't think a loss of form equates to a loss of ability and if Hughton thinks he can rediscover that then I trust him.
He is still a regular in the Sweden team, and played all but the last 5 or so minutes of the recent WCQ defeat to Austria in June, together with Ibrahimavic. Surely can't be that bad.
I we do sign Elmander (or anyone else for that matter), we won't know if they are any good until they play. How many of us did cartwheels when Holt was 1st signed?
Great signing for saints, they have a great squad now Talking of italians, am watching Psg vs Ajaccio now, Psg have cavani and ibrahamivoc up front! Not bad
