Someone could say they saw Nick Powell getting into a car at Norwich Airport, how about that?
I'd actually really like him to be our final signing, he wouldn't be guaranteed a starting place to begin with, but he'd get a lot more minutes than he will at United, and I reckon he could do a job in the AMC role. I don't think we should make any more marquee signings personally, Quagliarella would always have been a risk, but I think now we have two obvious first choice strikers to bring in another top quality one might give us a new problem in keeping them all happy, especially if we play one up front again. He won't come to sit on the bench, and neither have RVW or Hooper - and neither should they, so the numbers don't add up.
Even if he was 26, had proved himself in the Premiership for a season or two and cost £4m I'd probably feel the same, but in reality he's 30, has never played outside Italy and is likely to cost £8m so for me it wouldn't make sense and is a risk we don't really need to take at this moment. Not for me, not now we have Hooper.
Someone like Powell would be ideal as long as Moyes would be prepared to let him out without assurance of regular starts. He's young, talented, hungry and with something to prove and I think he could end up playing quite a few games for us - he's better than Harry Kane for sure! He'd also be a cheap option which would be a good move for me as I think we shouldn't get too carried away with the cheque book, rein in the spending a bit for now and leave some aside for January just in case we need to replace someone.
