Someone could say they saw Nick Powell getting into a car at Norwich Airport, how about that? I'd actually really like him to be our final signing, he wouldn't be guaranteed a starting place to begin with, but he'd get a lot more minutes than he will at United, and I reckon he could do a job in the AMC role. I don't think we should make any more marquee signings personally, Quagliarella would always have been a risk, but I think now we have two obvious first choice strikers to bring in another top quality one might give us a new problem in keeping them all happy, especially if we play one up front again. He won't come to sit on the bench, and neither have RVW or Hooper - and neither should they, so the numbers don't add up. Even if he was 26, had proved himself in the Premiership for a season or two and cost £4m I'd probably feel the same, but in reality he's 30, has never played outside Italy and is likely to cost £8m so for me it wouldn't make sense and is a risk we don't really need to take at this moment. Not for me, not now we have Hooper. Someone like Powell would be ideal as long as Moyes would be prepared to let him out without assurance of regular starts. He's young, talented, hungry and with something to prove and I think he could end up playing quite a few games for us - he's better than Harry Kane for sure! He'd also be a cheap option which would be a good move for me as I think we shouldn't get too carried away with the cheque book, rein in the spending a bit for now and leave some aside for January just in case we need to replace someone.
I have to keep pinching myself to make sure I'm not dreaming this. Never known anything like this.... Bloody hell we are building something here that is just getting better and better
They clearly had a firm plan for the summer and are executing it fantastically. Must having been planning the strike force make over all year. Given we have definitely been after a CB I would assume we will sign one, not necessarily Alderweireld, but we seem to have a plan and a new CB is part of it. He also said we don't sell anyone against our will.
I'm hoping thats just to reassure people asking about snodgrass and not to announce we're letting someone surprising go.
@Tony_Munky_Canary "Someone could say they saw Nick Powell getting into a car at Norwich Airport, how about that?" Talking about Norwich Airport, I now understand for the first time the significance of "International" in the official title of our local airfield. I wonder if the airport authority is now an official sponsor of NCFC in recognition of the business the club creates! Imagine Quag's agent telling him Norwich are interested. Norwich? Where is that, how do you get there? Oh, there's an international airport? Tell me more.
Boerrigter to Celtic? Swift and shrewd work if so. Decent player. http://www1.skysports.com/football/...ected-to-sign-for-celtic-in-the-next-24-hours
Sky describe him as a striker, but isn't he a left winger? Maybe the plan is to use Samaras in a more central role.
Fresh Reports Link Quagliarella To City http://www.norwich.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=326487 He said previously he'd like to stay in Italy though!
Brilliant if it happened but I reckon Moyes would look at the midfielders we already have and realise that he would struggle to get regular games whereas at Hull, Palace or a top Championship side he would get a start every week.
"Interesting part of Italian reports isn't necessarily #ncfc have now bid e8m for Quagliarella, but that West Ham have been priced out of it." https://twitter.com/michaeljbailey bid of 8m apparently, doubt we will get him for that myself.
And yet they have the cheek and audacity to offer £5m for one of our best players? **** off, Shammers, you wouldn't get Snoddy's left shin guard for £5m. Bah!
I just hope that peoples expectations are not too high. We have, and are, spending well and wisely but not to the extent that a massive jump up the league is likely. As Whittaker said in the EDP this morning ' We have it all to prove - survival is our main target.'
