Not every signing was going to be a game changer. We don’t need every player to be good enough for a top 8 side or even a mid table side. We need them to contribute to a team to finish 17th, I think every signing looks capable of doing that with quite a few capable of doing more imo.

that's one thing that's massive owners have give us every chance now , on paper still likely we'll go down, but all we can ask for is the club make a go of it , and we've certainly done that

I disagree with this. On paper we are absolutely no worse than the likes of Brentford, West Ham, Wolves, Leeds, Burnley... Fulham have over performed for years and I can see them getting dragged into it as well.

we absolutely did not…the Brobbey deal has been on the cards for a month as he has said in his speech which means its been ongoing and not a last minute thing

I think you've interpreted what was said completely wrong.

He said that he first talked to Sunderland over a month ago. Yet, we've only submitted a bid today.

He was obviously on a short list, we've spoken to the player, agent, club etc. but then I think we've gone for Guiu instead.

Once Guiu has gone back and Lucumi wasn't coming, we've spent that budget on a striker and brought in a defender on loan instead.

I think the deals today perhaps show that we're close to the limit of what we were comfortable spending this window.

I'll repeat myself and happily say ...

... I've no idea how we've persuaded so many good players to come to a recent L1 club, on the NE coast, for a relegation battle.

Has to be Mr's Doyle's cakes tbh.

<laugh>

Over the moon with the window. A lovely balance of signings and we’ve added more experience than I thought we would

A genuine chance of survival now.
Yeah 100%, pleasantly surprised with the prem experience with xhaka, adingra, masuaku and now traore. Got a very good balance throughout whilst still sticking to the clubs youth strategy. Tough road ahead, but sky is the limit if we can survive this year.

My take on the window....

Can't give anything other that 10/10

We got our main business done early, we have signed promising young players like Talbi and Roefs, secured Rigg, experienced pros like Aldarete and Reinaldo will be invaluable. Mayneda and Wilson look to be buzzing. Throw in a ballon d'or nominee as skipper and I'm buzzing.

I think we’ve kept some in the pot for January.

We clearly didn’t want to pay the Bakwa fee, fair cos £35m seems a lot.

Lucumi wasn’t mentioned all day, which was interesting.

I think there’s room for a statement signing in January.
Yeah Lucumí could happen in January for a lower fee if we can stay above the relegation places

Think at times we got bullied being a young team last year and with the physicality of the Premier league it was going to be tough but we have transformed into a tall athletic team with genuine pedigree and quality in one window

Still going to be tough and fight til the end, but we have a group of players who I'd take into the trenches

Quite simply a stunning window all things considered. A little bit gutted we didn’t get Lucumi - Bologna are stubborn sods! Possibly a one to revisit in January depending on how the new defence gets on. Best of luck to all the lads leaving us as well. Thank you all for contributions getting us back to the Premier League - now let’s build on a cracking start to the season. Perfect timing for the international break as well to give the new lads time to bed in and to get to know each other! Onwards and upwards!!

Quite right ...

... and those players have already contributed to winning us SIX PL points!

Well well well... We have done very well this transfer window. Cannot ask for anything more really. Our best window ever with nearly £200m spent on the project. Thank you KLD.

What a time to be a lads fan. I'm over the moon my now 16 year old son has been able to witness our rise from the 1st division, even suffering two losses at Wembley, to the two promotions via the playoffs...

Cannot wait for our next game...

Hhhaaa'wwwwaaaaayyyyyy the lads

Right kick me off the thread if this info isn’t right, Artem Dovbyk is a Sunderland Player, (if passes medical).
My mate 100% confident
Let’s get carried away man ⚪⚪
Right now the window is shut, I assume you’ll resign as any sort of itk rumour guru, unless I’ve missed it and Artem is now a Sunderland player, in which case this window has just gone to eleven out of ten.

Love this:

Sporting Director, Kristjaan Speakman said, “Patrick was a catalyst in the success of Sunderland over the past four years. He joined us in League One, believed in what we were doing, where we were going, and immersed himself in our Club, on and off the field. He made a huge impact for us, and with limited opportunities this season, it’s appropriate to ensure he can continue to play regularly throughout the campaign. We wish him the best of luck and thank him for his immense contribution. Patrick will always be able to call Sunderland home, and he will always be welcome at the Stadium of Light.”
