I think if Lucimi comes in they think he can work as the right centre half. I would be frankly amazed if our two most expensive centre halves were brought in to directly compete with each other. Also I expect that at least one of Seelt, Hjelde and Alese to still be with us come September.

Two will probably still be injured but if not I think we’d be looking for a loan for a couple of them.
 
We’ve made new signings that have come from big clubs but for all the boys that have brought us from League One to the Championship and up into the Premier League, it’s going to be the toughest year of our lives in football.

“We’ve got to be ready for that test. There’s been a lot of change, there’s been a lot of stuff going on behind the scenes with staff, the players and getting up to the standard of the Premier League. It’s our jobs to match that and take that step up.”

A sold-out crowd will be in attendance on Wearside as the Lads re-emerge as a Premier League outfit and from Hume’s point-of-view, he is expecting that to be the case throughout the campaign.

The message from the 23-year-old from the fans is to expect the unexpected but to come along for the ride. “Keep bringing that support,” he said. “It’s never in doubt whether it’s home or away.

“We’re back where we belong. I know they will be in their voice every single game and we are going to need it especially with the young team that we have. It’s going to be a tough test.

“We’re going to have good times, we’re going to have bad times throughout this year so we’re going to need to have their support the whole time.”

Sorry to put this between the hume news but Kevin hatchard who I think is one of best about atm, says alderete has featured on the right of the defence as well despite being left footed so lucumi wouldn't be worth writing off just yet
