I don't like the idea of a new lad coming in and being captain immediately. Just a personal opinion. Nowt to do with Dan Neil in this instance as I believe he is leaving. In my opinion a captaincy is earned in an environment, not brought into an environment. Whilst I am 100% behind the signing of Xhaka as the key man in our midfield, I would have liked to have seen Regis have someone on the pitch who is his right hand man in that environment. Maybe the fact we are seemingly going for a whole new 11, give or take, makes it irrelevant. Generally though a captain is someone who knows the players, staff, culture etc well. The role is significant enough in my opinion to warrant a bit more care with it. But it really is only an opinion that isn't important in anyway outside of my own little footballing bubble.

Sometimes being too cosy at a club can have the opposite effect and he's been there since he was a kid.

I'd like to see the two fellas, in blazers at the bottom of the stairs, quake a little when the captain walks in.

A captain needs to stand a little apart from the other players so they take their headphones off when he comes into the dressing room, pay attention when he's talking and start to get serious.

It always irritated me when Dan Neil shuffled up to the opposition captain, and referee, with a nervous grin when he handed in the team sheet ...

... that was always Roy Keane's first glimmer of intent and mental note to them both.

No offence to Dan Neil but I want to see a bit of fear when our captain puffs his chest out in that first minute ...

... I just never felt that with Neil.

I can see your issue, however, by the end of this transfer window who, of the team promoted will be guaranteed a starting birth. Still think Hume will be replaced as well as the CBs
I wouldn’t complain at that. Don’t rate him as much as others and think his lack of pace will cause him bother. Gordon absolutely destroyed him when we played the filth

His pace is a slight concern for me but I love his reading of the game wnd he seems to adapt really well

The game against Newcastle is irrelevant on our players ability of being able to step up as we are a totally different team and these lads have had another 18 months plus experience from then

I would love a young exciting fullback to come in and challenge him tho

That Adli loves a long term injury. Ruptured tendon in 21/22. Broken collarbone from a challenge in 22/23 and a broken fibula from another challenge in 24/25. Not really a sick note so much as brutally unlucky.

He’s not a massive worry, just wouldn’t complain if we signed a RB. I don’t expect us to

That was just a game I can remember him getting tortured against quality opposition, we’ll be up against top players week in week out now.

I don't think there's any chance of Hume going at all tbh.

He's a late starter in the game, only 23 and still developing but has already played 20 internationals.

We need cover but I'd be amazed if he was sold.

Injury record isn’t great, broken collar bone, ruptured tendon and broken leg in last 3/4 seasons and has never really established himself there as first choice. They paid 7.5m in 2021 and are allegedly asking 26m. Not convinced but his player attributes would fit.

Didn't say he was going. I implied he'd be upgraded. Totally different

Like others on here, would be very happy with more right wing cover/competition. Takes the pressure off Talbi to hit the ground running.
