I e said it since promotion. No reason why not.Saw a non Sunderland fan say we’ll get top 12 under the gk tweet and I just thought “can I have whatever he’s smoking “
Just neutral fansAre these people important for any reason or just random Twitter gobshites?
I mean when my cousin said there’s no chance Brentford get relegated I replied “bet you would’ve said the same thing about Leicester 3 years ago”You’d back Brentford to recruit well but an overhaul isn’t always straightforward. I remember a team in 2011, looked like they had a decent chance of europe in the January time then over the course of the January window and the summer lost Darren bent, Gyan, welbeck and Henderson. Never recovered from it after replacing them with weaker players.
Brentford are far better ran than we were so you’d think they’ll be sound, but it’s not always easy nailing replacing say 4 starters.

I get the feeling Doyle was on our championship list, cracking signing for themYou must log in or register to see media
Great signing for them, would have been a solid squad addition for us.
Not one to lose sleep over in any way shape or form.
You never know, just takes one poor manager appointment or some bad injuries and you’re in a rut. I don’t think Brentford will go down either but I’d rather they’d be losing players than just adding and getting better. Got to take every % we can to stay up.I mean when my cousin said there’s no chance Brentford get relegated I replied “bet you would’ve said the same thing about Leicester 3 years ago”
This is my disquiet over the Lauriente transfer on steroids tbh. Big money on a position that wasn't what I would have called a critical one at the start of the summer. So either we have lost our minds and decision-making at the club has gone to cock, or our ambition is much higher than we'd anticipated. Given how well we've been run in the KLD era, it's reasonable to trust that we're in the second scenario. Only hesitation I have is around Ghisolfi. Great operator by reputation, but the nightmare scenario is that this is a power struggle and a complete rejection of the ways of working that have got us here. That's just me at my current sleep-deprived worst though!![]()
Interesting to see how time plays tricks, mind. Lots of retconning of the Craig Gordon transfer happening on SM. Keano knew etc. Many glossing over the fact that Gordon was actually fairly underwhelming in the 07/08 season - at one point getting dropped for Darren Ward. Worked out well in the end but wasn't a massive positive impact on us establishing ourselves during that first season.
I'm not usually this negative tbf. Must be overtired![]()
I still don’t see how some people don’t think LW isn’t a position we need to upgrade. We only have Mundle, who’s suffered from two hamstring injuries in the same season. The wings are going to be the most important positions we need to counter attack well and create goalsI agree with most of this. I'm inclined to trust the ownership completely, but either I'm a bad judge of where upgrades are needed (very likely), the club are targeting the wrong positions (less likely) or we're planning on spending £150-200m on 8-10 players (both exciting and scary).
Good player that lad. Really good bit of glue in midfield for Brentford. They'll miss himYou must log in or register to see media
Brentford really are in a hole
Mundle isn't that good either. Plenty of potential but you need a lot more than just him for a full PL seasonI still don’t see how some people don’t think LW isn’t a position we need to upgrade. Need two good players on both sidesMundle isn't that good either. Plenty of potential but you need a lot more than just him for a full PL season
Yep. Loads of work to do but I’m sure we’re on itNeed two good players on both sides
Elliott would have teams in the top 10 of the PL after him I’m quite sure
