Have to say i'm a touch surprised that people think we can get away with signing around 5 players. Look at our squad, how many of them would you personally be comfortable starting games in the PL if the ultimate goal is survival not just making up the numbers?

I'm currently at 11 with a couple of maybes. I have excluded Jobe as he is seemingly gone.

Mayenda
Isidor
Mundle
Le Fee
Neil
Rigg
Cirkin
Hume
Ballard
O'Nien
Patterson

Alese and Huggins are maybes, I think they have the ability to be PL players though.

I know some are going to be calling for Roberts to stay but if he's our starting right winger in August we are in big trouble. Move him on.

I'm pretty sure we'll be bringing in around 10 players. I'd rather the likes of Aleksic be out on loan playing 2000+ minutes as well so that creates more space.

Had my first ‘I’ve heard summat’ text.

Kossonou plays for Bayer Leverkusen, Atalanta declining buy option.

Sounds far fetched but it’s the first one I’ve had so am sharing <laugh>
Was really good last year, not as good this year but would be a pretty smart pick up price dependant. Good on the ball, his defensive numbers don’t have him engaging a lot but I’m putting this down to playing in a 3 back system both years

I remember he was rated very highly, definitely didn’t fit such an attacking system as Atalanta.

We won’t play like Atalanta we’d get absolutely shambled every week if we tried.

Lads a unit though, and has pace too for a big CB

Maybe RLB is considering his 3 back system from lorient, he would give us that option

Yeah, I'm in agreement with you. 5 or 6 players under 25 to come into start. Couple of loans for players in their later 20s. Then of course those Aleksic type signings to consider for the future.

Am I right in thinking we can only sign 6 u21 players from abroad in a season when in the prem? Or is that my football manager brain taking over.
Dont know about that mate. I do know we can have a squad of 25 and as many u21s as we want on top. We do need to watch the homegrown rule but we should be ok if we keep most. Patto, Cirkin, Ballard, Neil, Roberts, Onien count. If we have a full 25 man squad we need 8 I think.

Reckon we’ll be back in for Tommy Doyle?

Surely leaves Wolves this summer, only started 1 game in 2025

Going nowhere.

Next year though, I boldly predict he will be comfortably the biggest sale in clubs history.

Biggest talent at the club imo and in a position that attracts the big money!

He is so good, creates problems whenever he receives the ball!

Good player wouldn’t be against it, their manager speaks positively about him just doesn’t fit his system so lack of games it’s as big a concern and it could be for me

Aye they weren’t terrible by any means but its a difficult one to judge for me because they’ve added depth for sure but it’s more the fact they spent about £50-60m on Clarke, Ogbene, Szmodics (to play as a 10) and Omari Clarke-Hutchinson. Then signed Ensiso on loan and Philogene for £20m in January. Granted Philogene picked up in an injury late in the season but those 2 were their first choices for most of the season half of the season barring injuries. Hutchinson and Szomdics cost them nearly £30m and neither as good as Ensiso who they got on loan. They could’ve used that £30m on a quality central midfielder and had Chaplin as back up if they just moved at the start of the season.

Conor Chaplin was off the back of 2 great
seasons, is Szmodics really an upgrade on him? Ogbene barely featured, Clarke doesn’t really fit their system although I don’t think he was necessarily a bad signing.. but is he really THAT much better for them than Broadhead? Feel like they could’ve spent that money on a few solid additions who are nailed on starters that you know are quality above the rest especially in the middle of the pitch.

to be fair to ogbene he barely featured because he ruptured his Achilles in October

I think we will sign close to 10 but I want us to focus on quality as well. For me that means signing 5 or so real quality players then bringing players in to add depth to the squad

I don't want to do what Ipswich did and sign lots of good championship players.

I’m thinking Odegaard mate. Dutch league rebuilt his career.

Could see him having a big impact for a second level team like an Alkmaar or Twente
Twente would be good as losing their best player this summer
