While we can agree that Wharton is better, I actually disagree with this. Tuchel has said himself regarding that exact comparison that you can't get what Henderson brings to the squad by picking a 21 year old and that Henderson was a necessity
he could have gone somewhere else. But my point isn’t to blame Isidor. It’s to point out that players go and play in “bad” places all the time and it’s never black and white, like you’ve highlighted
Once in Russia, it was hard to get out of it once Putin went into Ukraine I believe. I think Wilson got injured too, so a loan back to a French club got scuppered. Something like that was reported after we had loaned him. We managed to get him on loan, but it didn't seem an easy thing to do. There is very little similarity in his position to that of Hendo.
It’s not, it could be done. Problem I think you have though is how do you keep the squad happy with the wage structure. We were mid table for wages in the championship, so those lads will rightfully want a good increase for what they’ve done and there will be a few thinking they’ll be good enough to contribute in the prem. How will they feel when someone like him becomes top earner comfortably. Not saying he isn’t a good player, I think you could accept it with ELF with his pedigree but drewsbury hall is still unproven like a lot of our lads. Tough summer like, so many things to juggle and balance and get right.
Possibly and possibly not, tuchel talked at length about how he sets the standards on match days, in pre match warmups, in training. How you don't have to watch the players when he's involved in a drill because he essentially coaches them himself and brings the best out of everyone else. If he costs a nominal amount of money and is willing to just be in and out the team then I'm fine with it - as long as the club actually wants him (I trust Speakman to do the right thing) and the rumours are so easy to make there isn't necessarily truth to them.
I think it’s very relevant, his experience, discipline and tactical organisation he could use while playing in that sitting role could really help us in PL games. From what I can see a lot of Ajax fans rave about that aspect and how he’s played deeper recently and thrived. Seems similar to how we play too when we become a 5 back almost when he drops in between the centre backs
My instinct is to say no to Henderson from a playing perspective but I think the days are gone when Speakman makes a decision on sentimentality alone having learnt from the Defoe experience. I also think RLB is probably listened to more than any other coach in recent times so if he thinks he can use him and would be useful then we have to trust that. It doesn’t mean he’s a Jobe replacement playing every game, it means he can play a useful part in however RLB sees fit and we should really be trusting both him and Speakman after this season.
All i'm asking is that you go and watch some Ajax clips, particularly from the games they collapsed in towards the end of the season. He looks like an old man. Ignore the on ball stuff, focus on the off ball.
Absolutely. When will we have 70% possession the the PL? I honestly think never. It's the off the ball running that's going to give us a chance.
“Experience” for me would be somebody 27-30 who’s played in sides near the bottom of the premier league.
Not even ‘near the bottom’ Just players who’ve done it in the PL, played in big games week in, week out.
Ok maybe not near the bottom but my intention with that was I want players who are used to playing in games where they give up plenty of possession.
Not a clue. I barely even watch the premier league so am not up to date in the slightest. Didn’t say it was easy
