Normally I'd agree however, Ballard has only played over half of our league games in 1 of his 3 seasons. Cirkin has missed game time, Reinaldo had a bad injury a couple of years ago and we don't know how bad O9s injury is (@Prehab26 said he'd heard it was really bad) so I dont mind 9 for now

All fair points. Just a personal preference that I don’t like it when squads are built on a contingency basis for more than normal levels of injuries. If you get to those points of desperation then you use your academy regardless of the drop off in quality.

Equally, I guess it’s the hand we’ve been dealt with Ballard, Cirkin and Alese already here and under contract and with O’Nien’s injury as you say.

Worth saying that it'll probably be 10 if we count Alese. And that assumes that all of Hjelde, Seelt and Triantis move on. That's a LOT of defenders for a manager who doesn't rotate.

Makes a whole load of sense. You don’t hang your hat on Cirkin being a reliable backup to Reinildo for me. Also if we didn’t sign a left back we would have Jones or Huggins playing at LB

Cirkin has struggled every single season with injuries and had a really shoddy spell last season.

You need strength in depth for me

I think Alese will go out on loan as well, obviously depends who else comes in but I think 9 defenders tops is what I'd have

Just over two per position is not bloated like
