Weve spent so little in the last few years and done so well, weve had duds but weve done mint. Le Fee, Isidor, Mayenda, Ekwah, Clarke, Roberts, Cirkin, Hume, Triantis...etc I'm stopping theres that many. I think even if weve got 100 million there, that's doable with our shrewd business. Couple of free agents are a must, from the Prem I'd be keen to get Walker Peters, he can play both sides. Also, Danny Welbeck has played a lot this past season, I think if hes physically still there, he'd be ideal for us. We MUST try for Diallo if Mbuemo goes to United. I think Alese could waltz into the Prem ready made as a bit of a shocker.
Sneaky feeling a back 3 will be tested with alese Ballard and a new CB. if not I still think alese could be a premiership hidden gem
We’re a bit light in certain areas and need to strengthen the first team where we can. we need a new left winger, right winger, striker, left back, centre back, and if Jobe leaves then we need a centre mid too. I am looking forward to seeing how a lot of the players step up and I am sure they will get minutes throughout the season, but it’s a big jump up and we will need strong additions to stand a chance. i do think stylistically a lot of our players are made for the prem (I.e. Isidor and mayenda) will be a real handful for these prem defences that think they can move their back line really high against us.
I wonder if we just go and completely buy into the 442 counter attacking system? Bring in 2 new strikers to compete with Isidor and Mayenda who are similar in profile, 2 rapid wingers to rotate with Mundle and a physical beast of the midfielder to compliment one of Enzo, Neil or Rigg. I don't like the 442 because you don't have a lot of the ball and it takes a lot of creativity out of your team as it's normally the number 10 that drops out for the extra striker. However, we probably aren't going to see much of the ball in the majority of games anyway.
One thing I’ll keep an eye on is whether we go back to any of our favourite agencies. Have to imagine that sport cover will feature somewhere in our summer business.
Wouldn’t be surprised to see an attempt to sign Moffi from Nice RLB got the best out of him at lorient and has missed most of this season with an ACL.
Rumours form yesterday Jordan Henderson 34 Amhed Diallo 23 Kwame Poku 23 Jack Clarke 25 Partey 31 Lamptey 24 Walker-Peters 28
Want partey absolutely nowhere near this club not that it would be likely anyway, Amad would be an absolute dream and would be happy with either lampty or walker Peters
I’m fully expecting us to sign someone else of his calibre that people write off after a couple of games.
I'd love to see Alese stay fit and have a wonder season. I'd want go see him at CB not LB as his pace would give us some security on the cover. However for him to nail down that position I think initially we would have to play a back 3 and I'm not sure RLB will want to do that. Steep learning curve mind.
I keep reading some of the suggestions on this thread and thinking that people are going to have to manage their expectations a bit better if they want to avoid disappointment. But then I think how ridiculously ambitious some of our targets in the last couple of windows have been and think it’s maybe me that needs to realign my expectation. Targeting and competing for players like Kilicsoy, Orban, Adingra, even Marcus Edwards at championship level was pretty audacious so I do wonder just how high we might aim now we’ve got Prem status to back it up. Having said that, we obviously didn’t get any of those over the line, probably because they were too ambitious (Le Fee is the exception to that but that’s purely the RLB connection) so the club will need to strike the right balance and carefully tread the fine line between having lofty targets and wasting its time. I have absolute faith in them to do the right thing regardless.
