I agree if affects us differently but our accounts are showing we can spend £130-£150m depending on departures, that can be wiped our with 3-4 signings.

It looks like Jordan Henderson is deciding between Sunderland and Rangers, a good move or not at 34 years of age?

I get it for ‘dressing room’ mate but I am can’t see him having the legs we need on the park.

We have to be very careful with every decision and my gut says Hendo wouldn’t serve purpose.

I keep reading some of the suggestions on this thread and thinking that people are going to have to manage their expectations a bit better if they want to avoid disappointment.

But then I think how ridiculously ambitious some of our targets in the last couple of windows have been and think it’s maybe me that needs to realign my expectation. Targeting and competing for players like Kilicsoy, Orban, Adingra, even Marcus Edwards at championship level was pretty audacious so I do wonder just how high we might aim now we’ve got Prem status to back it up.

Having said that, we obviously didn’t get any of those over the line, probably because they were too ambitious (Le Fee is the exception to that but that’s purely the RLB connection) so the club will need to strike the right balance and carefully tread the fine line between having lofty targets and wasting its time. I have absolute faith in them to do the right thing regardless.
Money was the issue, it shouldn't be now, we've brought in, A LOT

I don't think money was the issue at all in most of those instances, we wouldn't have been irresponsible and/or naive enough to be spending time pursuing those players if we couldn't afford them. We just couldn't attract them, they were too ambitious as targets (and to think, KLD was having his 'ambition' questioned right up to last week), that's no slight on us, it's just the fact that we were a Championship club and Kilicsoy, Orban, Adingra etc wouldn't entertain dropping to that level when they have suitors and/or playing opportunities in the top leagues. Edwards had a connection with Parker and probably thought it was a safer bet in terms of ultimately ending up in the Prem.

You're probably right there but money will have defo stopped us from shopping in markets we can shop in now, also with us being promoted using the youth model we have I think we will have become a very attractive place for some of the best young talent out there myself

What’s hilarious is actually some of them players went elsewhere as they were ‘a safer bet for the PL’

None of them did great, a couple may have fit better here.

Nobody seen us coming. Even when we were in the automatic chase we were dismissed, only respect I recall was from the Leeds fans, fans of the only side that was genuinely better than us.

And again, here we are, Lions on our sleeves….

Oh yeah, definitely! That's kind of my point, if that's what we were targeting in the Championship then just how lofty and ambitious could our targets be in the Prem!

That's a really good point about attracting some top young players who will also be hungry to make it imo.

One change in strategy is that we will need players to make an impact immediately so best to get them in as soon as possible, a lot of our gems we've unearthed have taken 6 months to a year to make an impact - Stewart, Clarke, Hume, Mundle, Mayenda etc - I think we will see some really interesting names that we've never heard of and players we think are unobtainable

One stat which I have looked at and correct me if i'm wrong is that Tommy's winner in the play off final was only 2nd goal scored by a substitute all season? The other being Roberts when he came on early for Watson when he got injured

Think that'll be wrong, but don't think we've scored loads.

Mundle vs Preston immediately springs to mind and im sure there will be others.

Yeah thats right mundle did, I've looked at our other forwards and cant see any - which I would imagine is the opposite to Leeds who seemed to have people off the bench scoring all season

Yeah it might just have been those 3 games tbh, they scored basically twice as many as us over the season - need to add some firepower out wide.

Not keen on Ferguson, rather sign someone full of confidence and firing on all cylinders than try to turn around Fergusons career.
