Have you looked at it from the outside looking in, the 5 you have bought, are they PL quality. I’m asking the question, not stating a fact.

I’m not overly impressed with our 4 signings so far but we haven’t broke the bank, we’ve spent wisely and hoping we up the pace.

I’ve not met anyone who’s not a Sunderland fan feeling you’ve massively over spent.

We’ll see soon enough I guess
I don't care if other fans think we've over spent as very few watch football outside the PL. We aren't being reckless with our spending which other fans seem to think, we have a plan and we are sticking to it - will it work, who knows but I'm buzzing that we are doing that

We have dealt with so much s**t the last few years that we are just enjoying what OUR club is doing

I like that other fans are talking about us, we've signed some of the best young talent in europe and I can't wait to see how we get on

We know we are in for a tough season but we are proud of what we are doing

To add - other fans seem to think what we are doing wont keep us up, so what will? Because if there was 1 way to approach the window for newly promoted sides that guaranteed staying up they'd all do it

Genuine question. Are the opinions of us largely Leeds supporters ? Most Manchester (both teams) fans I met last weekend knew very little about our signings, similarly many at work from a range of teams. The Burnley and Leeds fans however are keeping a close eye. You’d think for a minute we were hypersensitive about relegation !
Good point, I guess the bigger clubs are just not interested in the shelf we are all shopping in. I’ve a few Arsenal and Fulham mates who are feeling you’re screwed come the African Cup, they do follow every transfer
Not to side with the opposition here, but we don't have to cover the truth in glitter to make it seem better - its impressive as is.

Reinildo was a rotation player for athletico madrid, but was a really useful squad player for one of the best teams in the world and Sadiki obviously didn't have to reject Leeds when ours was the only accepted bid.

This isn't to say Leeds might have eventually gone higher but we are quick, the whole deal was done in 2 days from the first mention of it to Sadiki to the announcement.

I am also certain that the players we have signed that were linked to leeds were genuine targets of theirs but they are playing the patient game, they seem to be eyeing up the market to find the best value (in their eyes) that they can, whereas we have identified our top targets and arent scared to negotiate quickly. Don't think we have ended up overpaying on anyone really, apart from maybe Talbi but hes the sort of player who could go for double in a couple years - Leeds on the other hand seem more hesitant to spend money which will either be a good or bad thing come the end of the window, time will tell.
Nice post <ok>

Where we may have spent a little extra than others would have in fees we have gotten the targets we want for the sake of say 20m total over spending I'd rather get the manager the players he wants and in early

At least we have backed the team, can be no arguments for the staff

Don't get extra points for getting bargain transfers there are just a by product of good recruitment, seen diarra fee been mentioned as one we may have overpaid by roughly 5m, if he has a good season and we go down we won't be losing money

I think because we knew we needed so many players. The club knew we had to have them in early.

With respect what was the point of bidding 11.6 for a player they wanted much more for. They must be thick as pigshite or it isn’t true. We negotiated a sale which is the point in the exercise. We should bid 5m for Yamal and then tell their fans their player is overrated .

Leeds and Burnley are puffing their chests out because they finished above us ...

... in reality we could've taken 12 points off them.

That was with a bunch of kids, a rookie manager, Mike Dodds and Samson but not Delilah ... she was on her period <laugh>

The squad we're building now will piss on them unless they start signing better that they currently have.
Sorry this is a late quote, but I’m just catching up on the thread.

I’m sick of hearing about them constantly say how many points they finished ahead of us. We stopped playing in February to save ourselves for the play offs <laugh>

Think it’s time for the Mods to do a lil ban
If your mods feel I’m on the wind-up and would prefer me to remain quiet, they’re welcome to send me a PM and I’ll not say another word. A bit sad though, we’ve not banned anyone from our forum in several years, last two banned were actually Leeds supporters
