I think you have to try fairly hard to not see that as a dig, it's a very odd thing to say if it's not one.

If he thought that he should have ****ed off earlier then. You can be complimentary about your new club without having a dig at your last club. I say he was having a dig. In fact I'd say it was bleeding obvious.

No your right, it's not hide to find it a dig if your mind automatically jumps to any comment someone makes about our club being negative.
He was hardly going to say "yer my previous club won promotion in a fantastic year, I got injured and then the players that came in for me did really well and I was no longer a guaranteed starter, so they didn't take up their option on an extra year on wages that where agreed back when we had prem money coming in, but when they offered me wages more inline with my status in the squad now I wasn't a automatic first choice, I didn't even look at it, so I've come here as I'll be first choice" etc etc... If we had players who didn't work hard last season, would we really have had the season we had?...
It's a typical new signing comment, the kind players are advised to say in media interviews for new clubs etc when they go through media / interview advice&training. I wouldn't even put it past the media to be using snippits of a full interview to try and drum up a story

All I would say is if that is how he was advised to word such a comment during media training, then they need to dispense with whoever told him that this was the right thing to say. Either is it a deliberate dig or a poorly worded response. IMO, you should never burn your bridges when leaving, as you never know what the future brings.
It's clear that most on here see it for what it was.
As I say, it may just be a snippet used by the media to create this kind of response.. would be interesting the see the full interview if OLM has a link to it?
Positively archaeologicalI'm in the dig camp.
Indeed, the HDM since Phil Buckingham left are in the habit of making headlines sensationalized when you read the article generally has very little bearing on what the headline says.
I don't understand your meaning. That doesn't surprise me at all....
Written as is in the HDM online, with the ‘dig’ headline, but nothing in the written report highlighting what is supposed to be a ‘dig’, I was left confused. Then I found this thread. I think the statement is bland and in no way justifies the headline. It needs the reporter to state what he/she feels is the dig in the actual piece. The headline is written as clickbait and it’s a waste of time clicking on it.
