Young, hungry types for me.... Don't want any has-beens looking for their final payday...
Far more players available due to the economic state of the game.
Well run clubs should now be at an advantage....

We need something in between, experience is and will be key for us in the championship. We have the young hungry players in almost every position. This squad ( in my opinion ) lacks the experience needed to "win ugly" and grind out results which will be needed next season. We have a fantastic chance next season and for the first time in a long time, we don't need wholesale changes or pretty much a squad overhaul. There's been a few names banded about behind the scenes recently That would really be great signings and give us exactly what we need.

We are financially in a much healthier position then almost all our rivals next season, which will do nothing but help us

I agree, our average squad age is something like 23, which is fine but it needs to be balanced with experienced players who can help bring those lads along. We saw the impact of having Reece Burke (himself only a young lad really) alongside Jacob Greaves and Smallwood alongside Docherty.

I would hope we are aiming to establish ourselves in the league next season, we have the momentum and the quality to avoid a relegation battle, in my opinion.

Hope we're not thinking Huddlestone and Davies types.... Injury prone and slow....

Never convinced by players like that...

That said, there's going to be many more "names" available this summer I reckon.... With some having to seriously review what sort of salary they'll think they can earn.

According to Alan Nixon (Sun Journo), we've made an approach for striker Dion Charles at Accrington Stanley. He's available on a free transfer.
So are Brentford, Cardiff, Derby and Huddersfield. Accrington value him at £1.5m, I’m not sure we’ll be paying fees like that.

No chance, perhaps why we’ve approached him now. Hope this doesn’t become another Charlie Austin scenario.

I’m not sure how it works, if he agrees to join us before they activate it then we might get away with it. But yeah you’re probably right, they’ll want a fee.

I'm not sure exactly how it works, but usually, there is a date on which it should be activated by, if that has not been done then he is free to leave at the end of his contract.

I am in total agreement here. I feel that we need to add another experienced player across the three lines. We have players like Jones who can play a couple of positions and as stated we have young hungry players all with a point to prove. I think there are a couple of players in our squad who won’t make the step up but we are in a much better position for the coming season than when we dropped. The boys have played together as a unit and have great team spirit. No wholesale changes required.

McCann will know what’s needed.

He also knows he probably won’t get it.

Allam’s OUT.
