Could very well be this. The way LJ was talking about giving Hume a deadline sounds as if he’s getting a bit impatient to get people in.

I don't believe the club should use the Countdown Clock but there's something fundamental here ...

... how long could we allow Gallacher, certainly not until deadline day.

We might as well throw in the towel now and let them fight over the top slots and play offs now then, we'll just make up the league numbers! Who's to say this team can't match them as it stands now? FFS the window is not closed yet - there is still time to sign players to fill positions. People are agreeing with you up to a point - yes we need players in - but no one else is saying that we are not going to be able to compete with other teams in this league as it stands!
At no point have I written season off but I gave reiterated the importance of having a full team fir all games. Again it's not one extreme of the other.

I don’t think it’s unreasonable to say it looks a bit of a shambles at the moment. Time will tell, and if by deadline day we have higher quality than those at Ipswich, Wigan etc.. then well done recruitment team for keeping their nerve when many panicked and screamed.
I’m not seeing anything to support that leap of faith just yet though, and I think it’s not unreasonable to assume that won’t happen and we will end up with nothing better than our rivals…with no time to prepare before the season starts.

We're playing catch up. I'd rather have quality in early. We can have both if the recruitment is as good as made out to. Be

Every club in the world wants that but it’s not always possible.

Hardly any clubs ever have their squads complete with weeks to spare, it just doesn’t work like that.

If we’re still in this position when the window shuts then fair enough, but I’m pretty sure the club are trying their best.

There's an assumption that other club's signings are going to all fit perfectly and the clubs will be flying ...

... we signed Jones, who has great talent, and he was a waste of time.
People think it's a computer game mate. Offer a fee, offer wages and it's a done deal. Totally forgetting that, for example, a player on 1k a week in Exeter with his house and family and all the rest of it being sorted and settled will jump at the chance to move 400+ miles, uproot the kids, schools etc, find a new house, nee mates, new teamates plus a load of other things I have no idea about. All for, say, 'double your money' for an extra years contract. The players need to think about it much more at this level than the prem. Every move (or potential move) makes or breaks their livelihood. Prime example is Wyke - 10k a year - yes ****ing please and I don't blame him for taking it.

So is everyone else but they are not saying that we won't be able to compete
If we've one defender of back 4 and only one competent striker who hasn't played a full season in l1 I'd say I've a case to be concerned about competing. We'll soon see though as tines running out.

I've never said a full squad. A full back.4 would be a minimum to expect though. Only Portsmouth are worse off than us for squad size of the favourites fir promotion.

1st season in L1, 5 games in Luton had 7 points, Charlton had 5 points. Remind me where they fnished?
In 2018/19 we had 13 by comparison and failed to go up
2019/20 we had 11 and fell short, (Coventry had 11 and Rotherham 6)

The promoted sides all appear to have good runs towards the end of the season whereas we seem to drop off. Hopefully that won't be the case this season

I've just moved to the Cotswolds and, ffs, what a clart on, exactly as you're saying.

Find a doctor, find a dentist, get stopped by everyone in the village asking loads of questions, furnish the house, wait for the internet to be installed, etc etc etc. I'm never moving again ...

... unless I double my money <laugh>
