Every day is like a Bank Holiday, loads of people now it's hard to fly ...

... we're at Notgrove up the road which is a lot quieter.

Cheers mate.

i rarely do this, but if you cannot see the difference between the past couple of seasons and the way we have been playing in the pre-season games then you cannot have watched the team much.

while i have to agree it is not a '90 minute constant' and i don't think anyone has tried to claim that it is, there is a definite change to a more forward passing game...no one that i know of will have 90 minutes of high press, it just does not work, players will have maybe a lead player and he will decide when to press and others will follow but you will not see this across a full game.

as with all else at the club right now, it will be a steady progress which should become clearer when we get the right players in, which will hopefully be very soon...you also need to take into account the amount of changes being made in pre-season (complete team in one game at half time) and the mix of probably three different groups (1st team, U23's and even some younger players) and i don't think they have done too bad.

I've watched the team a lot and if you want to talk about the pressing game, we did it briliantly when Johnson first came in, with great success at the likes of Lincoln away, then for some reason abandoned it (and I've said many a time that's what cost us promotion). We are nowhere near playing that type of pressing game now. It happens, but sporadically and is impacted by the players on the pitch at the time i.e. making several subs does make a difference (often detrimental). But that's my point, those players should be playing the same pressing game but don't.
It's a game of opinions, I'm not seeing a regular style of play throughout, I've discussed with plenty of others who don't see it either. Obviously yourself and others do see a difference, that's your opinion. Whether or not it gets better when other players come in remains to be seen, lets hope so.

Not really, having to work as you're sorting the place out is tiring and I've done it so often the novelty's worn off tbh.

Spending the prior 15 months in a French lockdown didn't help.

We're near Bourton on the Water if you're passing and fancy a pint.
Not far from my second favourite sporting place (first is SOL), Cheltenham racecourse! Been going every year to the Festival in March for many years now, recently stopping near Churchdown but had to change for next year and booked into a place at Evesham.

oh aye. i have noticed many times one player getting slated and praised in the same game...and i do agree we do not look like a finished item but there has been that change.

Fair enough that is what you have read, I've not spent loads of time reading comments
I can only speak for myself I'm not writing the window off of course not there is still 5 weeks left
Its just frustrating that we've so much work to do with 1st game next Saturday that is all
Don’t think I’ve read anyone going full meltdown yet. Few are nervous but accept there is plenty time left in the window to rectify the issue. My concern is, that as the window goes on, things become more of a ‘scramble’ to use the term by Solskjaer today. Pritchard was a cracking signing, and that feels like a very good bit of early business. Maybe it raised expectations. I think we’ll still make a few more really good signings, but I’m not as certain we’ll have the full squad depth needed. Whatever team we have, I hope we batter Wigan, but I would have felt more confident if we’d had a stronger starting 11 already lined up.
Starting the season with a call for patience rather than a stadium clamouring to see a team full of quality signings doesn’t have the same feel, but that’s more to do with the transfer window timings, it should still close before the season starts.

I only have one real concern but it niggles at me. When we advertised our "data" positions I felt SAFC-bound to see if I could boost those positions to the best, since I'm in that kind of environment.

Laughed off. The wage offered vs what they/we wanted was seen as a nonsense. And I'm public sector.

So if you're not signed to secrecy what were the asking / offering and what do you think they should have been offering?

I think people are overplaying the extremes of supporter emotions at the minute.

There are certainly a couple ‘any negativity is toxic, no complaining until the window is closed’ types, ditto the ‘toys out the pram, tagging Speakman and Jones in every foul mouthed tweet, KLD is skint ‘.

it’s perfectly normally to be in between and I think some people expressing their concerns are being tallied up into full supporter meltdown.

The full back situation at current is pretty unforgivable, however the rest of the starting 11 is pretty good. We just need some depth and some added sprinkling of quality. Hopefully our new recruitment staff and approach can find some gems in the next few weeks.

Ah right so it only works one way does it ??
Didn't say that did I? Just providing some context to those cry babies saying we can't wait until 5-10 games in before having the squad we want. Nothing is won or lost in the 1st few months. Blackpool had a dreadful 1st half of the season last year.

In 2018/19 we had 13 by comparison and failed to go up
2019/20 we had 11 and fell short, (Coventry had 11 and Rotherham 6)

The promoted sides all appear to have good runs towards the end of the season whereas we seem to drop off. Hopefully that won't be the case this season
The best sides always know when to time their runs - Man Utd were masters of it under SAF. No coincidence that we did the same under Keane. For posters of a certain age, the 1st promotion under Reid - we were very underwhelming for the 1st part of the season, in fact you could say the same about he 1998 season too

I don't get what is going on this summer, did people really think KLD was going to give Johnson £30m to spend? I'm actually encouraged that we haven't just gone out and recruited numbers and are keeping our powder dry until we get the players we want - even pulling out of the Gallacher deal yesterday is encouraging IF it means a better player is available

So you think we'll lose are first 5 games and everyone else's challenging for the top will win the first 5 games?
It seems to be logic of some on here. We're doomed to lose the first 5 regardless, whilst those around us will be Brazil '70 disappearing into the distance. Or (another analogy) SAFC - the Jamaican bobsleigh team of League 1. Cognitive dissonance at it's best.

We've done that in patches, certainly not for most of the game, every game. I was on the stand on the side at York and the amount of times I thought the midfield was passing to me in the first half was ridiculous, it was constantly come out sideways. Flanagan long balls still although not every time like he used to. The pressing game was non-existent yet appeared in other games at times. There's no consistency in how we play across all the games.
It's called "development" and it'll take time to bed in.

£30m don’t be daft I expected £50m<ok>

Would you say that if we had a bad first month and then manage to sign make some decent signings towards the end of the window to turn things round but end up missing out on promotion or the playoffs by a point. Our first game is against a potential promotion rival and we're going into it with no fullbacks and totally depleted its not acceptable.
You have no right at all shooting fans down like me that are concerned, we have every right to be!

You can be as "concerned" as you like, the fact that you are all judging and crying before the recruitment window has closed is a major embarrassment. Your scenario is as likely as us winning our 1st 5 games with the current squad, then failing to reach the play offs by a point with the new players.

Maybe, just maybe the recruitment team/owners at SAFC know better than you do
