Almost a full family day out today. Me and my youngest son are taking cousin and his grandson. My oldest is taking the grandson with their new ST's (missed Wigan due to holiday commitments) and middle so is going with wife, father in law, mother in law, granddaughter and grandson, who is 8 today. Spoke to him this morning and he is buzzing.

Enjoy mate, my turn next weekend. Coming up with my son and going to the match with my Dad and Brother. Literally counting down now...

Good luck with the job mate.
I’ve lived away for 22 years now and still miss home. Hope to be able to do what you’re doing at some point.
I’m not as far away as you are currently (150 miles) but would love to head home and live close to sea again.

I moved to the Midlands when I was 21, I’m 29 now. My strategy of getting the mrs to fall in love with Northumberland has worked and we have been discussing places to live up there quite a lot lately. She’s pregnant now though which has thrown a spanner in the works! Suffice to say the baby will be introduced to all things SAFC. :emoticon-0103-cool:

Good luck with the move and congratulations on the little one mate

Has she fallen for the line "Seaburn is God's country.... In Northumberland..."

I am watching the Liverpool game and Harvey Elliot is playing and looking good. He was on loan at Blackburn last season where he broke records and was supposed to be outstanding. It would have been our very own Stuart Harvey who took him to Blackburn. Just another sign our new recruitment team know a thing or two about getting good young prem talent.

I done the same thing, and in the end it was the Mrs who instigated the move North. Now live in Seaburn, a stones throw from the sea front and you wouldn't be able to prise her away from the area now, she absolutely loves it. I couldn't be happier with that :emoticon-0103-cool:

To get the thread back on track. Looking at the recruitment so far, for the first time in so long it looks to me like we are building on solid foundations rather than sand.

The future is looking very very bright
Spot on mate, I know it's early days for the new signings but the fact that they look like the could be quality already and still young lads. Just a shame that you can tell Doyle is going to be a top player then we will probably only have him for a maximum of 2 season but I suppose that's better than not having him at all.

Great day all round and even better for my 8yr old. His other Grandma and Grandad sponsored the match ball so they were in the stadium from about 11. He had his photo and birthday wishes up on the screen, much to his embarrassment. We all met up pitchside before the game and my oldest son gave him a present and birthday card. At halftime he opened up the card and there was a £10 note in. He had met Micky Horswill before the game but Jimmy Montgomery had been around him quite a bit, so he went up to Monty and said he would like to give him the £10 for being nice to him.
After taking the £10 (joking), Montgomery asked him if he would like to go with him and promptly took him down to the tunnel and met O9, his favourite player.
He was then given a ball with all the players signatures on, which wrapped the day perfectly, apart from having a takeaway tonight at our house when they got back.
Thank you Monty ⚽
