What a load of old carp from Hoos.9th August 2018
Hoos: The loan window is key
LEE Hoos has explained QPR’s approach to the summer transfer window after the R’s brought in Toni Leistner while only Alex Smithies left the club, joining Cardiff City in the Premier League.
Following the closure of the transfer window at 5:00 pm on Thursday afternoon, Hoos told www.qpr.co.uk: “A number of our players were the targets of bids but we turned them down as they did not meet our valuation.
“It wasn’t too long ago we had to pay players to leave this club. Now we are turning bids down – bids which are significantly higher than our purchase price for these players. That represents real progress.
The early closure of the transfer window this summer significantly changes the landscape and this can be used to our benefit.
“While supporters will be pleased we kept hold of our targeted players, while also tying down Darnell Furlong and Ebere Eze to long-term contracts, I understand their disappointment that we have not added any further players since the arrival of Toni from Union Berlin.
“However, the early closure of the transfer window this summer significantly changes the landscape and this can be used to our benefit. We are looking to bring loan players in. We can do this until the end of August.
“Clubs who were looking to sell their players on permanent deals will now be looking to loan them out, whereas prior to the window closing this was not an option they were considering.
“We will be looking to add to the squad. We are aware of the areas that need strengthening and we are looking to do that while in keeping with the club’s financial parameters.”

A large part of the debt has been converted to shares, that related to the madness years and FFP (indeed it was converted to try and get out of FFP). But in the last set of accounts, for the year to May 2017, it showed that the shareholders had to pump another £12m in just to hold the net loss to about £8m. Every month they have to stump up more, then convert the loans and the interest on the loans, into shares. In those accounts there were still £46m of convertible shareholders loans (I assume that the £22m converted for FFP comes from that). In that season (2016/17) our gate receipts were £5.2m, and our wage bill (all staff including non players) was £30m. The bulk of our income, £35m of it came from an improved Sky deal for championship clubs including our parachute payments.
The assets of the club are put at about £40m, £25m of which is property, the rest the intangible value of the players.
The shareholders’ stated long term aim for the club, as set out in the accounts released in May this year, is to get it onto a sustainable financial footing*
So the club is still in debt to the owners and entirely dependent on their goodwill not only to continue putting cash in to keep the ship afloat but never asking for any back. I have no sympathy for them, they created this mess, but I respect their decision to accept the responsibility and not walk away. In these circumstances I would be doubting their sanity if they gave us £10m to get a couple more Conor Washingtons. It’s players at the end of their contracts like BFG2, our own kids and kids that other clubs have discarded for us. I suspect even loans will depend on players’ home clubs being willing to pay most of their wages.
* I’m not an accountant so my reading of the financial statement might be wrong, but I don’t think so.

"bids but we turned them down as they did not meet our valuation". Who were they planning to sell?
"However, the early closure of the transfer window this summer significantly changes the landscape and this can be used to our benefit. We are looking to bring loan players in". They were telling us not long ago that loans were not the way forward?
Do that not realise we are not stupid.
They didn't get off to a flier either.A win sooner rather than later would do us the world of good. Beat Sheffield U and the world will seem a different place. U R's!

It doesn't mean they were planning to sell anyone, but that they may have done if someone offered silly money.
The early window close is advantageous in that there will be a lot of surplus players available for loan on reasonable terms.
Overall not a bad window 1 out 1 in, 2 prospects signing contract extensions.....now up to penrice to get his little black book out and get season long loans to fill the areas where we're a tad thin....
Up the R's
I think the accounts show that the club still owes them money and they are still loaning the club more, and that we have to trust it will continue to be written off via share conversion. No reason to believe it won’t be, because there is no way they will get back even the interest on these loans, they must be doing this because either they love the club, or they are guilty about the mess they made, or they are idiots. But we continue to be a loss making (technically) debt heavy concern, so it’s not accurate to describe us as debt free, we wouldn’t look like that to a potential buyer unless current shareholders wrote off what they are owed (as they would have to).I wouldn't say you were wrong, but then I don't think what I said was wrong either. The point I've been trying to make to various people is that the club doesn't have debts because the owners regularly convert them to equity. They didn't have to do that and I think they deserve some credit for it. They have been incredibly stupid of course, but it's their money after all.
I don't think anyone bashing our current owners thinks it is fun to do so. It's frustration!! There can't be one single fan who honestly thinks this club has been ran well. The Hoos comment about getting bids for players, where before, we were paying them to go, sums it up perfectly. I and I presume others too, get no joy from comments like that, I get no joy from our situation which is looking worse than last season. It is all frustration and anything but fun!!I think the accounts show that the club still owes them money and they are still loaning the club more, and that we have to trust it will continue to be written off via share conversion. Anyway, I think fundamentally we agree, I can’t think of a realistic scenario which is better for the long term health of the club without these guys. Even a new owner can’t just throw money at players without risking another FFP jeopardy. A new owner with a new stadium in W12 in his/her back pocket would be fun though.
Bashing our current owners might be fun to some but it makes no real sense. They made mistakes but man are they paying for them, they have shielded the club from the impact, and it would likely be worse without them. They get credit, but not much respect from me.

This is what I worry about. We seem to be putting a lot of pressure on them. Last season Holloway stated that the younger players lacked experience and need to be introduced gradually. The reality though is that we lost some decent players who were out of contract the end of last season. The squad is weaker starting this season than it was ending last season. A lot depends on the young players coming good.
Fair enough Bob. I think the basic tension is between the frustration about the overall quality of the squad and the real financial position, and I can’t see a responsible way out of that, we can’t seriously strengthen the squad without digging the financial hole deeper.I don't think anyone bashing our current owners thinks it is fun to do so. Not going to stop though is it, at least until we are promoted to the PL when the banshees will encourage them to make exactly the same mistakes again.Bashing the owners for trying to put right what they got wrong (when they could have just done a Chris Wright) just seems perverse to me.
Just can’t let it go can you.Oh I never even got started!!
I'm not bothered about Turkish or his insults. He's a nobody to me and he can insult me all day if he wishes. Won't throw anymore back at him but will comment when I think he's talking ****e.
