Queens Park Rangers are looking to bring Michael Hefele on board, with the Huddersfield Town outcast on Steve McClaren’s radar.
According to HITC Sport, McClaren is desperate to bolster his defensive options at this late stage of the window, with QPR contacting Huddersfield over the availability of Hefele.
The German centre-back has previously impressed in the Sky Bet Championship, when he helped the Terriers to promotion during the 2016/17 campaign.
During that campaign, which was his first in English football, Hefele stood out for Huddersfield, who under David Wagner, won promotion to the Premier League.
The 27-year-old made 40 league appearances for the Terriers, scoring three goals for the West Yorkshire outfit.
However, following that promotion, Hefele found himself cast aside, with Wagner turning to other options in the Premier League.
Hefele made just six appearances across all competitions, with only two of those appearances coming in the Premier League, as Huddersfield battled for survival.
QPR are open to taking Hefele either on-loan or in a permanent deal, as they press on with their business ahead of Thursday’s deadline.
The Verdict
Hefele would be a strong addition to McClaren’s squad, which at this current time, looks weak.
The defender finds himself on the fringe at Huddersfield, but back in the Championship, he will be at his most comfortable level.
If QPR can get this over the line, their supporters should be delighted.
