Walcott and Bale are excellent players, no doubt.

But times move on and (some) fans move on.

You look at some clubs where players return to their former clubs and try are never the players they once were.

We have an excellent academy and are continuing to prove that we have players coming through and have what it takes and are stepping up to the mark.

Those younger players are mainly level headed and are keen to improve and break into what is already an extremely high spirited team.

I would always prefer to bring players through than bring back ex players where they (some) have more money than sense.

Hope that was explained well enough, takes a while typing on a phone. :)

Well Bale has improved, as since he has left us he has been terrorising defences in the PL.

Would he come back and play worse than he did in the Championship at LB? I doubt it.

I'd take Bale and Walcott if offered. It's a non-sensical argument.

It's just in these time where money is inflated and loyalty doesn't mean mcuh players anymore, Puncheon is an example of this.

He throw his toys out the pram when AP got sacked and lost respect of everyone.

NC and NA let him back in, funnily enough after we had got promoted and we were top of the Championship <whistle>
But fair play he has knuckled down and has had a good pre-season. :)

Shearer or Le Tissier were different. They were incredibly talented players and were more concerned with playing and loyalty. I would gladly welcome them into any role at the club.

They are professionals and role models and that makes me incredible proud. <ok>

:)

No doubt he has.

Just a case of differing opinions.

Some will agree, some won't.

Good topic really <ok>

Shearer and Le Tissier are from our past and should not be allowed to return.

Also how have you inferred that Shearer was more concerned with playing and loyalty at Saints?

Do you know him or people who did?

Shearer left, and Le Tissier didn't.

I'm struggling to understand how you came to that conclusion.

Hmm I didn't mention them playing again.

I said club role.

Shearer was a leader and did great wherever he played. He has inspired many people. I respect his opinions and he is a very honest, fair and level headed person. Loyalty wasn't aimed at him...

Le Tissier - I really shouldn't need to explain...

I would accept Surman, Walcott,Bale and Oxo back. What person wouldn't?, they are all class players.
To simply say you wouldn't except them back because they have played for us before is crazy.

I agree. Surman would not necessarily be as much of a "back in a heartbeat" decision for me, but he's a definite improvement on what we have.

Shearer had no loyalty to us, he just want to play for Newcastle.

Yeah exactly, I'm just struggling to understand any other mindset.

RLGB, what do you think would happen if we brought Bale back? Suddenly the rest of the players (none of whom were here when Bale was EXCEPT DAVIS AND LALLANA), the management (none of whom were here when Bale was) and the board (none of whom were here when Bale was) will suddenly relapse into how they were (except, not they, because literally every person is new EXCEPT DAVIS AND LALLANA) when Bale was last here?

Lallana was here, as was Davis, when Bale was :)
