Really? Was told it was this guy.

Would be surprised if it was Igor Lolo as he is 30 very soon and only signed for Kuban Krasnodar in the Summer of 2011.

Had a quick Google search, think you're right actually haha, not sure why I thought it was the Ivorian <doh>

Also, just seen that Diame has gone to West Ham - that's the sort of player we're crying out for - a big powerhouse.
We're way too lightweight in the middle of the park IMO.

Would also love Aluko, a cheaper alternative to Elia.

FM ;), MLG is the Saints researcher for fm and he is the most deluded supporter I've come across, so whats to say that the other researchers aren't similar?

I might be "deluded", but I've had very few complaints from Saints fans about the Southampton research in the 5 years I've been doing it. ;) :p

We're light in the middle because of the 442 formation we play. The better teams tend to play with 3 in the middle and win out by strength of numbers. We're kidding ourself if we think we can attract the sort of beast who can be two men at once and do it well. Cork, Morgan and Hammond are all well-proportioned men and I don't think anything more than that is a pre-requisite of a central midfielder. I've heard Diame is meant to be on around £60k, so glad we didn't try to compete.

What a surprise, since the Liebherrs have come in you have made being Saints on FM very easy due to the amount of money they get and have also overestimated quite a few of the players in that time, and no Saints fans complain. Shocking.

Our Nixon friend has tweeted in the last few minutes that Saints have put a bid in for Butland which is just short of what Birmingham want. BUT, a second team has joined us in bidding for him. Let the auction commence...

Have you not noticed the successive promotions from League One to the Premier League, the £15m training ground, the soon to be category one academy? Why shouldn't I give them money to spend. In any case, at present I don't even have the sugar daddy box ticked.

Which players have I overrated? If anything for FM12 I underrated them, when the game first came out they were 16th in the Championship for average current ability of the best 16 players.

That's not true at all. No matter how many times I try, I can't get Lambert to score as many goals as he did last season, nor can I get a decent season out of Kelvin Davis.

First of all in you're in the wrong thread. Secondly if he's made saints very easy to manage because of our large amount of money and quality players then it is VERY realistic. Not sure if you are aware but we never dropped out the top two this year, and we had the most players in the team of the year.

And if you don't want to be Saints there's about 25,000 other clubs in the game...

On this game it is more level, only player who is overated is Lallana as he can go straight into the Prem and get 30 assists with a very high average rating, and also the youth players all can become amazing, but I haven't seen any of them play except Ward-Prowse so maybe you are right with them. Maybe its not you but the game, but the fact that you can get promoted and then win the Premiership the next season seems ******ed. The fact that you get £20 mil+ as a transfer budget in the first season in the Prem seems ******ed. The fact that every year in the youth intake there is at least one "leading prem player" coming into the u18's, one season I had 6 of these in one intake. Oh and also the reputation of the club when you get promoted goes up too quick, I could sign any Newcastle player once promoted and they had finished 8th the season before.

On previous versions you did have the sugar daddy box ticked in FM10 I think it was in the foreground and FM11 background? On those versions Schneiderlin became one of the best midfielders in the world. And regarding Lambert Joe, his stats look good but the match engine doesnt seem to favour slow players, get any striker with good pace, acceleration, composure and reasonable finishing (like 10 plus), play him as a poacher and watch the goals fly in.

But anyway this is completely off topic of this thread

Really? We've already spent £6m+ on Rodriguez, with bids in for a few other players, who's to say we won't spend around that much?

Notice how I got the thread back on topic there, talking about transfers? ;)

The clear and accurate indicator as to how good a player is in real life! <whistle>

<applause>

I love FM more than most. I'm an absolute addict. But I hate it when people bring FM into a coversation about real life football, using FM to support what they're saying. It makes me cringe, and want to just bang my head on a wall. And it's always, always the end of the conversation for me - I stop being able to take the other person seriously.

Back to Ryan Babel - I think he would be a cracking signing. Liverpool didn't really give him a chance. He was literally restricted to coming on from the bench and he scored some good and important goals for them. A few in the champions league too.

He's not worth £7m right now. I'm sure that is a made up number by the press but for £3m to £4m to inject more pace in the side it's worth a shot. He's also a bit of a marquee player due to history which will enable us to attract a higher calibre of player.

His attitude came from never being given a chance to play regularly. Any footballer with passion for the game would feel the same.

Any player is a risk but I see Babel suiting the way we want to play and to me that's a positive.
