Don't think we will be signing anyone for awhile, players and staff deserve a nice long holiday (probably until after the Euro's) so I don't expect much activity before then.

Life isn't that easy in football. Nigel will probably have a two week holiday at some point, and then be back in analysing and checking out the plans for next season.

Despite being in the PL (sounds lovely, doesn't it?), we are sadly still unfashionable Southampton. We won't attract (nor will we be willing to pay for) players that are being courted by many other teams. Taking a line from the movies, we want players with the right stuff...quality, not above themselves, willing to learn, and team spirit. Nigel said he already has a list of names, but this is really Cortese's moment. Get that video out, Nicola (with a little bit added on about the pitch invasion). I suspect a mixture of experience and foreign unknowns are being considered.

Nothing will happen until all the matches, play offs etc have finished. If QPR go down for instance and West Ham don't come up there will be big exoduses from both clubs and the merry go round will kick into action.

I suppose so Fran but do you think that he will break our transfer record (£4mil) for another midfielder or anyone come to that? In this particular transfer window...I personally do not think we can take too many chances. Like we did with the likes of De Ridder, Forte. We do not have the luxury of making too many mistakes with our purchases.

There's the rub, though; we don't have the luxury of making too many mistakes, but we also don't have the luxury of playing it safe...three or four known commodities, proven at this level, is quite an ask unless we're paying for players at the tail end of their productive years. I too would expect a foreign unknown (unknown in England, at least) or two simply because the step up to the Prem from another top-flight league may be more appealing than a lateral move from another Prem side.

Here's one who won't break the bank.

Joe Lewis.

Just throwing it out there, having been released by Peterborough.

Without Forte, we wouldn't have been promoted from League One, and hence we wouldn't be in the Championship this season, meaning we wouldn't be in the Prem next season. Therefore, Forte got us into the Prem <laugh>

Yeah I mentioned him as a good replacement for Bialkowksi, who is also out of contract soon. Some others aren't fans though.

As I've said elsewhere, we already have a very good young goalkeeper in Jack Dovey. I don't think a goalkeeper is a priority. I also hope they extend Bart's contract. He is perfect as a back up. I know he'll be remembered for that goal last year but he was superb the year before when Davis was injured (in fact he was unlucky to lose his place).

Lewis would be good, he would develop well as goalkeepers don't tend to normally peak untill their 30's, same with Bart
