While he had reported his desire to leave in the spring, before making his choice on Sunderland in July, then expressing his anger towards SM Caen, not a seller, in August, Alexandre Mendy will not leave Normandy this summer. According to our information, the top scorer of the last Ligue 2 ended up deciding to stay one more season at Stade Malherbe. He will be in training this Thursday and should be in the Norman group on Friday (8 p.m.) for the reception of Annecy.
I’m guessing ‘ended up deciding to stay one more season’ would translate as ‘Sunderland have moved on to other targets’

Could argue simic, Wilson and mayenda is enough, Wilson will get enough games by covering the left to keep him happy too I’d imagine, like mayenda but very raw and a good impact sub for now, wouldn’t say no to another like
I know many feel he’s gone the wrong way about it but, if the report is correct, I do really feel massively for the lad. He was clearly hugely invested in coming here and has been poorly advised and seemingly misled by someone (I’m hoping not us included in that).
It’s now pretty humiliating for the lad to have to return having had such a ceremonious farewell at the end of the season and missing out on a move he was so passionate about making.

Feels like we've moved on from Mendy, hope he's mentally strong to deal with the situation, or Caen have offered him an improved deal. I wonder who our incoming forward is? Obviously an upgrade on Mendy, due mainly to the JC sale.
Honestly, i'm glad we've pulled out of the Mendy deal. The club thought they could get a bargain and nearly did, but if Caen are wanting more than we value him at then we have to move on.

Only right. The club have shown (even though, I have been critical at times) that they are much better at spending their coin. Before their takeover, it seemed to be good business ar a price that we wanted. That's all changed, and there is no way we are spending that money on someone into their 30's.
Has that lad at Spurs who plays for their u21s got a loan move? Lankshear I think his name was. Scored against our u21s last season and looked decent. Simic, Wilson with Mayenda and him backing up?
