Leeds sold other players though, we've sold nobody. Praising Leeds for keeping Gnonto but selling others is like praising us for keeping Jobe while selling Clarke.

Championship clubs have to sell.

Last season i am talking about….i don’t recall then selling many…quite a lot of loans…tyler adams 20 mil was the highest i think

Seeing people say that Brighton signed Ritter for £40m and Clarke was better than him last season,

so why didn’t Brighton sign Clarke then?

This is going to sound reactionary but Clarke isn’t as good as many of our fans are making out. He’s unproven at the top level and might find it hard to adapt. I genuinely think it’s a fair enough price, even if of course I’d rather more.

and it’s a bloody brilliant sale if it allows us to sign Simic with money left over.

A lot of people will say we could or should have got more for Clarke but for one thing we don't actually know how much he's gone for (if he has actually gone remember the Mendy deal was all but done), and for another given the cracking deals we've done so far I'm more than willing to say that financially the club knows what it's doing, compared to your average football fan.

they got to get them done now if dont they will get so much deserved ****

Truth.

This is a real ‘now we will see’ moment for both sides of the line I think.

If the money doesn’t go back into team with quality signings then genuinely we will have an eye opener.

I don’t see this being how it plays out though. I think we’ve released funds to close deals now.

Loaned out so many players with options to buy which a lot have been taken. They also have parachute payments.

Then look at them now, half their team is gone.

We've rebuffed loads of interest over the last 12 months for him. He wants to play in the Premier League and we've received a bid 2000% greater than what we paid for him after 2 and a half years of great performances for us.

I can understand being disappointed that he's leaving but it's hard to criticise the people who persuaded him to come to Sunderland and paid less than £1m, for a sale that nets the club the biggest profit we've ever made on player we've bought.

Simic
Isidor
Loan winger
Defensive midfielder
Fullback
Centre back.

Replace the loan winger with Mendy if we see Isidor as a winger.

Remove some of the deadwood that we have and this is all very possible.

Would love to see this happen but i cant see it

Simic
Wilson
Mendy

is what i think we bring in

I don’t think it’s about how good Clarke actually is, time will tell if he can cut it in the prem, it’s more about using the extortionate market to our advantage. £40m for rutter, £35 for gray? £25m for Summerville £15m+ for delap. I think there was a bit more in it for us here but obviously don’t know the actual fees so hope the club have got the best deal they could.

all those players have higher ceilings than Clarke IMO.

I’m really interested to see how Clarke does in the EPL. He’s fairly one dimensional, although that one dimension was very very effective at this level. Remains to be seen how it is in the top flight.
