I don't even think this has come from Harte, it's just Graeme Bailey being Graeme Bailey, smoggy a**ehole, considering some of the rubbish he's come out with this summer it's no wonder he's gone from reporting for Sky to giving "exclusives" to the likes of HITC and TBR (whoever they are)
Leeds interest is defo there mind so someone is making noise that a deal can be done for clarke and that'll be harte

If we did sell Clarke for the reported £25m, what would we do with the money? We don't have many empty spaces in this squad barring the obvious. Would we buy players for now or bank some to acclimatise ahead of next season? Would we keep our powder somewhat dry ahead of future windows? The temptation would be to get a like-for-like replacement, but smart clubs tend to replace a good player in the aggregate rather than directly. Interesting article on Liverpool's transfer work in The Athletic today. Notable that the deal that really pushed them on as a club was selling Coutinho and using the money to bring in two players in completely different positions in VVD and Alisson. What's the equivalent for the current SAFC? Striker and centre half?
I think it puts us in a different market for a striker. I don't necessarily think they'd replace Clarke as a lot of faith appears to be going into Poveda and Mundle.

I don't see why Clarke would make this move. Yes Leeds might pay him more money, but they are no guarantees that they'll get promoted. Surely the PL is where he wants to be...?

I seriously wouldn't put it past Harte to get Clarke to go on strike in the next 10 days or so. He's clearly tried a few times. Starting to see Harte's MO now, every time it gets leaked like this there's always a line about the player wanting the move, or being disenchanted etc, despite looking pretty happy every time he's shown to the public.

Harte has been pushing for a move for Clarke for years now, I'm not worried.

Only way Clarke leaves is if our valuation is met, and if it is, then fair enough.

Harte can twist, moan, and mouth off to the press all he wants, but that won't change the situation.

The only way it changes is, if Jack actually wants to go back to Leeds tbf. Although he's been really professional so I can't see him downing tools. Hopefully

I still think he leaves this window unfortunately.

Clarke is happy here. He's not the type to throw his toys out the pram. There is not one bit of Jack Clarke that looks like he's unhappy at SAFC

Same. I just hope its because our fee has been met rather than because Clarke down tools and forces it through.

I know he's shown zero sign of doing that and seems a good lad. But that hasn't stopped players from doing it in the past.

I don't see him doing that. He has and does love it up here. I just feel that there is too much noise around him and for a while.

To be fair, I thought we'd lose Rigg for practically nothing, Neil, Clarke and Ballard. So if we just lose Clarke we've done pretty well.

And as I've been saying for ages, we really do need a large sale to strengthen this squad. I would just hope it happens with time for us to spend some of it.

He won't leave unless they pay what we want and can't see us not asking for more from a direct promotion rival

I completely understand the sentiment and theory, and personally agree with it. But I think the club might be quite transparent and transactional about it. i.e. this is the price and if someone wants to pay it, fine, no matter who it is.

Anyone we’d want? Might offer a sweetener if there is a deal to be had. I think it’s about 50/50 whether Jack stays. If I was him I’d basically say I’d like to talk to premier league clubs if they meet valuation of club but agree a deal to be signed the second the window closes. Might as well get better paid until either we go up or a club matches our valuation.

Context applies though. Selling to a direct rival could cost us millions later- the deal would have to reflect that, big promotion clause etc.
