I
To be fair, I thought we'd lose Rigg for practically nothing, Neil, Clarke and Ballard. So if we just lose Clarke we've done pretty well.

And as I've been saying for ages, we really do need a large sale to strengthen this squad. I would just hope it happens with time for us to spend some of it.

I'm not sure about the need to sell. Who would we bring in? A striker definitely, but I think the club would rather put the cash up for a striker than diminish the squad in other areas.

I honestly think think they'll spend money if the right player comes along at the right price.

Despite all their sales I don’t think Leeds have the financial resources to meet the clubs valuation of Clarke. If he leaves it will be to the Premier League.

If he does go I don’t think we’d rush out and spend all the money. They don’t tend to panic or rush signings. You would however hope they have a plan in place if he does go. I also think it will be about improving overall team not just replacing Clarke.

I wouldn’t mind a loan signing just so we don’t rush in to a bad signing. Mikey Johnstone from Celtic on loan or someone like that. I certainly wouldn’t go out and spend loads on another left winger when we have a few who can play that position and are developing.

From the footmercato article about Niang to Caen

To be fair. Leeds is Clarke’s boyhood club
Sunderland or Newcastle United were probably Norman Hunter’s boyhood club but that didn’t stop him playing his football for Leeds United. Professional football players are mercenary by nature and will play wherever they feel they will get the best chance of success.
