Today has sunk in now and there’s a major positive I want to highlight.

We now only have one game until the window shuts. And there is absolutely no pressure on that game. Everyone expects Burnley to beat everyone. And we have 6 points. 6 points from opening 9 will be a brilliant start, and that’s our worst case scenario.

Mayenda has also scored two today and looked great off the ball as well.

Both of these combine to completely take the pressure off getting new signings in as well. Of course we absolutely still need to make the signings, but now it’s removed all temptation to rush or give in. It allows us much more freedom in that regard.

If we’d lost today there would have been tonnes of pressure and then even more if we lost to Burnley. But instead the pressure is off no matter what.

Looking forward to these last two weeks of the window now.

Don’t look on RTG. They’ll be planning a KLD protest after a massive win.

Mayenda has proved he needs a look in today, earned his spot! Practically it changes nowt...we still need a striker. In reality it does change things... I'd be delighted if it was Mendy we went for and he had to earn his place rather than be an automatic starter. If anything, today has massively improved our position on Mendy. He's gone from 'essential', to a 'would be nice'. Make no mistake, another striker is defo essential, but it doesn't have to be him anymore, a good loan would do. Hopefully, maybe etc etc...well that would be my negotiating position to screw them in to the ground, anyway!

I think Le Bris has been so impressed with Mayenda that the plan has always been to bring someone in and have him as the backup.

You can see the potential he has but a more experienced player for him to work with and learn from will help.

Nah there is still pressure, we need a couple of strikers still imho and maybe a right back on loan.

Posted this on the match day thread but thought I would here too

Really encouraging from Mayenda. A lot of people didn’t want to see that Mayenda had something about him due to the frustration of the CF situation. But all pre-season and these two games it’s clear to see there’s something there with his movement, pressing etc.

his first goal was a lovely striker and the second we wouldn’t have seen last season. Right place, right time which is what we have needed for strikers.

I’d like us to still get one senior striker in but let mayenda be the backup. I wouldn’t want to block his pathway after a performance like that

Just watched the highlights at home, didn't realize how far out Mayenda was for his first - took it so confidently. For me he's earned the starting spot, if we get another striker in this week, he needs to bide his time
