To an extent I agree, but some of the immediate surrounding areas (cleadon, Whitburn parts of Durham etc) would be deemed affluent and attractive. The issue is our footballers and those we wish to attract aren’t super rich, not like the Manchester players or Liverpool lot, (who all tend to live in Cheshire), or the London based clubs players. They all live in v expensive trendy areas where they’ve got an abundance of nightlife and leisure that they can squander their money on, we haven’t. We’ve got the odd restaurant, we can claim that Newcastle has the nightlife but them inbred ****ers would make any Sunderland player feel uncomfortable, we’ve got beautiful coastal areas but that’s not enough for a twenty something, testosterone filled relatively rich young man. That’s why, unless you’re from here, or we can pay so much that they can forgo a few years of shagging and partying, we’ll never be the destination of established premier league stars.

That pretty much sums things up mate.

It's not so much the players that's the problem as they're busy and occupied with training, travelling, playing, interviews, sponsors, etc. It's the partners and children who are the problem. Living in a nice big detached property, in the Durham countryside, would suit me fine ...

... but Groundhog Day for a vibrant young woman with money to burn.

We'd want to improve our home, plant trees, add outbuildings and create something personal. Renting a furnished house, for three years, isn't the same at all. And how many times can you go into town before you've done it all.

Don’t think they do as much now because of the prices of the houses up that way but when we had the likes of Bent/Defoe on good wages they all mostly lived in the Darras Hall estate up Ponteland.

House’s are upwards of one million quid.
Many footballers rent property for the duration of their contracts and that certainly applies in Darras Hall. If house purchase is preferred there are very many houses in that area substantially lower than £1 million.

Average house price in Darras is £850k lol. Best mates parents live there in a bungalow they’ve owned from when it was new, had nothing done to it and you’d say it’s on the small end of what you’ll get there. Valued at £700k. Pretty much all of the houses have big gated driveways etc and loads of privacy. Not sure there’s anywhere like that over here that isn’t a stones throw from a council estate

I didn't realise Rusyn had played that few minutes. Good stat and makes the 2 goals and 1 assist look decent imo.
It probably feels like he’s had lots of chances because he’s made over 20 appearances but most of those minutes will have been as a sub. From memory he generally looked okay but had one real shocker.

Rusyn for me just doesn’t have the build for what we need up top at all, looks far too lightweight and his movement isn’t amazing either. Completely lack that focal point option

Well I beg to differ sir. I am very posh and was privately educated in our great city. I lived in Middle Herrington which is where all the rich posh families live. If it was good enough for mater and pater then I am sure it will be good enough for the players who are privileged to wear the Sunderland shirt. Some people really do not know when they are well orff.

Made me laugh know a few from there and they definitely think they’re middle class :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Durham cathedral the most odd in my head..... with the river wear wrapped round it<laugh>

I work with a max that lives on the river in Durham and everytime I tell him he should be ashamed he bites like owt.

Very touchy subject, even more so when I said I’d draw him a map on how to get to somewhere (I’m a HGV driver) and I drew him a map of the west flowing past Durham towards the stadium of light.

genuinely thought he was going to rip my head off.

Unreal mate..... honestly dont think they realise its circled by the Wear....thicker than mince

I know I may have a bit of bias,but I honestly couldn't disagree with a word of that. <laugh>
A lot of people including our own fans underrate this squad tbf, they were coached by two minging coaches last season, the new style of play should hopefully suit them down to the ground, add a goalscoring striker to that then why can't we have a proper go?

Until we are back in the prem, getting hammered each week they will slate the team/set up no matter what.

most stayed away in L1 but managed to get tickets for the final
