They have not signed one for 3 windows. So not nonesense really. Not saying they dont want to.

They just want a 20 goal a season striker for pennies

i went through all four divisions, last week, looking at how many of those there are.

None of the teams below us have one I would want and none above us would sell to Sunderland.

And many players simply won't entertain coming to the far NE coast.

So we're looking at Europe along with everyone else ...

... do you have any suggestions?

Doing a poll of supporters doesnt mean a massive amount unfortunately

Some will like him as a CB and others wont, your just new to the board but honestly this discussions gets brought up every couple of months or the minute he makes a mistake (when he has a good run of performances nothing gets mentioned)

We should always be looking to improve every single position, players that come in this summer have to be 1st teamers (or pushing for that starting jersey). Last summer seemed to be more focused on the future than the immediate

Think Speakman has already said that this summer is about quality and hes been true to word so far - i like the 3 signings that weve made and they def improve us

Although I like the signings and i can see the logic in all of them I’m not convinced they improve us, at least not significantly. Browne will add leadership, experience and consistency so he does albeit he has a lower cloning than the other midfielders.
Moore is a solid back up but that’s it. Needed but doesn’t improve is. Poveda has potential but as of now is not certain to be more than a squad player.
You can’t judge a window now, and the striker is the position we will see the most improvement, however as of now I don’t think we have improved much. A squad that should see us top half and in with a chance of play offs.
I hope we see some movement out soon as we only have space for a 2-3 more signings and they need to be quality. I’m hoping we use the loan market to bring in someone at a level we couldn’t sign permanently.

So what you're saying is that people on match threads are a bit daft and can't read a game as well as yourself ...

... neither can each successive manager who comes in and plays O'Nien.

He must be the smiling blackmailer <laugh>

Not at all. We’re all just amateur spectators at the end of the day. I’m saying people are very selective about what they choose to highlight and I don’t think I’m one of those. I’ll like comments when he’s praised for an action I agree with but call him out for something and the O’nien brigade are screaming that you’ve got an agenda against the bloke. I’m starting to think he’s got relatives on this board :emoticon-0102-bigsm

All of those managers who’ve also inevitably failed, by the way.

Browne will kick us on a lot in CM, Poveda will add some xfactor and Moore is better than Bishop. The biggest change is going to be Regis Le Bris tho, so that could really kick us on

Also with our 'model' its expected that our younger players kick on yr on yr so thatll make us stronger

The league is also poorer this yr so we def have a better chance

Now having said all that we know signing a striker is going to be the key to our success. We still have time to strengthen the rest of the squad

Ill always fully judge the window at the end of it but im really pleased with what weve done so far, still plenty to improve on but i like the steps we've taken so far

Thats what the scouts get paid for. What happened to speakmans list

Every club has a list of players to go through, doesnt mean its easy to sign a striker tho

My club has finally signed a striker after searching for a couple of seasons, and the player we signed weve been trying to sign for approx 18 months. Signing players is tough, signing strikers is even harder

Good post mate, but I can't agree about Poveda. His career has been disrupted by loans and an ankle break ...

... I think he'll be targeting a regular starting place and will find one imo.

Bu the window has barely started in the Championship imo, we're waiting for the top clubs to make their moves then see who's available for loans or even sales. We'll also be looking to sell and loan quite a few of our own. Plus the big question of what happens with Clarke/Neil/Patterson.

The clock's ticking but there's still plenty of time imo.

We didn't fail to be promoted btw, make the Championship play-offs or win a Wembley trophy ...

... I think O'Nien may have had some involvement.

Sorry I meant a first team ready striker. Not one for the 26/27 season
They clearly thought burstow n rusyn would be tho, himdsight is a great thing - we now know they werent

Folk didnt think Amad was championship ready but hindsight tells us a very different story

Its always easy to comment something after the fact

Wasn’t he injured half the season we went up and spent the other half in midfield? Funnily enough also spent 3 seasons with us in L1 not good enough to go up.

Rusyn was 24 when he signed, the only player to score more than him in Ukraine in the 22/23 season is about to move for over £40million. It didn't work but it's not for lack of trying.

So whats going wrong then mate? He has been given loads of opportunities and looks shyte. Lets be honest here

That's just hyperbole, isn't it? The fact that the club have got a budget and won't overspend isn't a bad thing. Eventually, they'll sign a centre forward who is ready for the first team, or one already on the books will become ready.

Only 10 players scored 15 or more goals in the championship last season and I honestly think only one of them could've realistically been our starting striker last season, Latte Lath. The rest of them either aren't strikers or are/were just well out of our price range.

Szmodics: Midfielder before last season

Adam Armstrong: Played multiple positions, was signed while in PL for over £15million

Morgan Whittaker: Winger

Summerville: Winger

Vardy: On crazy wages, rumoured over £100k per week in the championship

Che Adams: Cost over £15million while in PL

Latte Lath: £5million

Sargent: Cost over £9million while in PL

Haji Wright: Cost £9million

Jack Clarke: Winger

This is why it is so crucial we get into the £5m-£10m transfer bracket. We have to do it to compete.
