He's got Neil, Ekwah, Rigg, Browne, Jobe and Aouchiche ahead of him in the pecking order. For the good of the the club and the player himself, he needs to move on.
Bang on

He’s another who’ll leave with our very best wishes. Good player for SAFC and scored some vital goals. Really hope he can get past his injuries because he’s a cracking footballer. Great with both feet - that’s very rare.

I think it’s clear as day that Embleton needs to move on simply for the good of his career.

Unfortunate with injuries, could have a very good career at the top end of league one or even over the border if he can stay fit.

Sadly too many bodies ahead of him now to be able to give him the run of games required to get him back into form.

“I don't think that would be a good experience only because I'm selfish,” Zak Johnson told The Echo after the game against Blackpool when asked if he would be content with being a squad player at Sunderland heading into the 2024-25 Championship season under Le Bris.

“As a player, you've got to be selfish. For me and my career as a centre-back, games is the most important thing. Minutes is the most important thing. So when I came back from Hartlepool, I was itching to go back out again and get men's football, and I did that. And now, after a successful loan in Ireland, I feel like I want that even more. So those feelings haven't gone away. I feel like the best thing for me is to get games wherever that is.

Brilliant mentality
Really exciting to hear a talented lad speak his mind in a positive way. Also glad he's a centre back after years at fullback. Hoping in the next 12 months he proves he's more than capable of playing for the first team. Even if he is a mile off now, one more loan could see him catapult.

Love those quotes from Zak Johnson it’s a very good attitude to have as he clearly backs himself but it’s all good and welltalking the talk but you’ve also got to walk the walk.

can’t say I’ve seen much of him to form an opinion but would imagine he ends up going out on loan again and then see how he does from there.

I didn’t watch yesterday so not sure if people know how he got on?

He played well, I think hes good for a top end L2 loan move

Why wait? He’s in his last year of his contract and probably won’t get much game time, either cash in or loan out now.

It's a shame for the lad but he's been left behind since the emergence of Rigg and Neil, now the signings of Browne and others who are above him imo. He can go to another club and play regular football or stay here, play cup games, etc, and hope for injuries and suspensions.

I think he'll be gone and the club have done the decent thing by including him in the friendlies to help him find a club.

Guesswork, on my part, but I don't think Le Bris is a sentimentalist.

Definitely. I like him. Just needs to impose himself more.
The best I ever seen him was that Luton home play off game, he completely dominated the game. He then started ok last season and peaked against Southampton. Since then he has been a complete passenger (like a lot of the players not just him).

I say we either play him as a number 8 where he’s best suited so he can be an asset or we cash in.

I don't think transfer fee will be a factor with Embelton, I can see the club letting him go for free along as the right club for the player comes along. I think he will be one of them players that the club will do right by in that way!

His injuries happened at at a time when the club and level of players has moved on and he has sat still. He won't get the minutes to improve here, no point in a loan deal as they won't give him an extension.

When he came through in league 1 he was one of the highlights of the team and showed so much promise!

I like embo but I think we’ve moved on from him, he’s a good league 1 player but not where we need to be.

I hope he smashes it wherever he ends up, I’ll always remember the Wembley goal and I suspect he will too.

I agree with this, it’s pointless forcing him to play a position he doesn’t look all that comfortable in just to suit others around him. Either play to his strengths or sell him to improve elsewhere. There’s a good player in there it was only last summer that Stuttgart wanted him and they’ve just finished 2nd in the bundesliga.
