Any chance of any more signings going on the tour to bond with the squad and fit in?
That's cracking news, the defensive side of his management was really the only real reservation I had about him.Clarke mentioned it in his interview yesterday
Did you go to the Shields game as well, as we played COMPLETELY different against them.
I was at both games and it was like night and day, to the point where I can only assume the instructions/tactics given to the players were different for both games.
Browne’s defensive stats are born out of him harassing and harrying - chasing the ball if you will. That’s not a skill that lends itself to being a sitter where it’s all about positional discipline and reading of the game. With our squad as it stands (even with Browne in it), Dan Neil is still the best equipped for that job (whether that’s the best use of him or not is a different argument). With the type of high press system we want I think we defo need to be seeing if Tom Cannon is available on loan.
I think it would fit him like a glove.
Also after watching altendings video on Browne. His defensive stats are actually surprisingly good. He could be the sitter behind AA and Neil.
I don’t see where Jobe fits for me either I find him far too slow to transition quick enough
Regis' comments when asked about a style of play he said high pressing and fast intensity, it was also evident in the shields game as we were pressing very high and very relentlesslyWhat have you read about the high press?
Regis supposedly didn't play with a press either year he managed Lorient. Not to say he won't here, just wondering what you know that I don't.
That's fair, could see neil being the sitter from here on out then maybeBrowne’s defensive stats are born out of him harassing and harrying - chasing the ball if you will. tbf, I'm not sure we even attempted to press like we were against shields with gatesheadWatched it mate yeah. I think it was more down to the opposition personally. We were playing an incredible weak shields team. Have freedom to do what we wanted.
I only watched bits and pieces of the friendlies but what I saw in the first half from South Shields was really really poor. I would take very little from it other than a training ground excercise. Not competitive at all.tbf, I'm not sure we even attempted to press like we were against shields with gateshead

Salford City want to take Sunderland's highly rated young keeper Matty Young on loan.
Young was with Darlington for a spell last season and is being allowed out to play in the EFL for the first time.
The England youth cap is ready to go if he is going to start in the Salford side and talks will take place around their plans this week.
any reasons why he's been seen as one of west ham's best youth prospects recently?
Got to say I think the midfield would be very important to how that style works, don't think matete, embo and jobe were a good 3 to make that happen
Couldnt afford him !Leeds after Ekwah?

Neil did ok the season before in that deeper role but when they went side by side with Hume dropping in we looked like a bunch of strangers and Ekwah has no heart for scrapping further back. I wouldn’t be sad to see Ekwah leave if I’m honest cos I’m far from certain about his willingness to competeReally want us to continue to develop Ekwah, but don't really want to see him as the deepest player in the midfield. Think the Neil-Ekwah switch at the start of last season was one of the big errors from Mowbray that contributed to the way the season eventually went.
Definitely a player there but since his”dead leg” he lacks any bottleNeil did ok the season before in that deeper role but when they went side by side with Hume dropping in we looked like a bunch of strangers and Ekwah has no heart for scrapping further back.
