Out of interest where does everyone stand with Pembele? With a full fit team our two RB’s are Hume and Huggins with Cirkin and Alese as your LB’s.
I think Pembele will be an elite level player. I genuinely think it is the most exciting signing made during the KLD era. I am basing this on his early breakthrough with PSG at 18 and a good loan season in league 1 at 19 with Bordeaux. I saw some of that and he was so good, massive threat going forward, pace to burn, brilliant 1v1 defensively. Last season was about time to recover from a bad knee injury. If that is all healed then I would not be surprised to see him as our number 1 right back at all. Outstanding talent. If him and Cirkin are 100% then we could have a very special set of full backs in my opinion.

Pembele and Cirkin as wingbacks, Hume as DM?

Never like full backs going into midfield. Just dont think they have the awareness to play there. They have spent ages playing with danger on one side, in CM it is a 360 degree view you need, eyes in the back of yout head if you like. Then the best CM/CDM have the best touch on the pitch usually, playing on the half-turn. I just dont think it is reasonable to expect players not brought up in that central spot, to make the switch. Look at Trent, looks like a lost boy in there. For me I would like to see Hume convert to a CB, I think he is tailor made to become a really good one.

That's fair enough, I think Corry Evans started as a centre back and I'd be worried about Hume's height as a CB in a 2.

Agree re FB going into CM/CDM mate.
Respect your knowledge, my fear around Hume at CB is that he may get bullied physically. Don’t get me wrong, the lad tackles like a train but having seen 09 getting rag-dolled by Gallagher against Blackburn amongst others so would personally prefer a more robust option in there.

I do worry about the Browne link, because he's at an age where he's looking for his last big contract. One thing I worry about is being to pay him.

I’d read Preston had offered him the biggest contract in their history, not sure what that equates to financially or if we’d be able/willing to match that.

Might be last big contract but he might also be looking at what club gives him the best chance of PL football

Now im not saying thats us but if we have 'ambitious' plans to go for it this season he might just buy in to it

Update on earlier - Norwood is the player who has been to the AOL a few times. Wanted by Boro too …
Wouldnt be against him coming in, probably not as big a fan of his as others on here but he def improves us

Think he would be suited to a 433 system more - which probably suits us as i dont think we have a natural no10 other than Adil

Had 16 starts across the season, and 27 appearances. Seems the starts tailed off towards the end though. Anyone know why?
