Going to be interesting to see how much the squad develops in the coming weeks. We have some talented kids with potential, but lacking the nous that experience brings. I'm not necessarily in the camp that would have kept Batth & Pritchard, but hopefully we can bring in some quality that allows these kids to develop:

Plenty work to do in that squad IMHO. 2 x strikers, left winger (not convinced Embo can step up at this level and jury is out on Mundle)
Midfield looks light. Would consider loaning Hjelde out IF we bring in another CB and we can have faith that Cirkin/Alese can stay fit

I see no point loaning Bennette out again - he's either good enough or he isn't.

Millar and Willock added to that squad looks a lot better
Swap Ba and Bennette for me but yeah,

2 ST's (1 Decent CF with experience and 1 younger but with games behind them also)

LW (Clarke replacement - Millar or Johnston)
RW
DM with experience (Norwood on a free?)
CM with experience (Browne on a free?)

We must bring in these experienced players to give players like Ekwah, Jobe, Ba etc time to properly develop without the pressure of having to start every game. Having Norwood & Browne IMO would be great for Ekwah and Jobe as they can rotate in and out with them and also sponge their experience

What a signing Clarke was. Nice loan first to see if the move works for us and him. Then get him for a low fee because all he’d really shown (to outsiders) is flashes of reemergence in League 1. You could say that he has been one of the major successes of the model already.
100%. We might well be saying this about player like Aouchiche, Mundle and Pembele, but for now the jury is out on a lot of them.
I think the original version of the model (I hate that word) where we brought in kids on the fringes of PL squads (Cirkin, Clarke, Alese, Huggins, Ballard) was really successful but the shift to the foreign markets has seen us bring in a lot of kids who are just not ready for this league. The approach needs rebalancing this summer.

Centre half we need

O'Nien isn't a top end Championship CB. Seelt won't play again until 2025, Triantis is unproven. I'd say we definitely need a commanding CB to play alongside Ballard.
Well O'nien clearly is, every manager has started him for a reason. The data shows he's one of our better players and one of the most important to how we play. He might not be a better defender than Ballard but is more important to our team

Maybe a loan, what happens when he comes back and we have 5/6 first team CB's?
We have to account for injuries, Seelt won't be in action for some time, not sure what happens with Triantis, Alise doesn't have a great track record with injuries too.

Just to say, Jack Clarke is not itching for a move in any way, shape or form. He absolutely loves it here and is really happy, as are all the players I know of - even post Mowbray moving on and the poor end to the season.

With all of them though, that obviously needs to be balanced with recognising and achieving their full earning and playing potential and it's a relatively short career after all. Equally the club need to make the best return they can on players and that likely means selling when there's a reasonable amount left on their contract - for Jack will be this window or January at the very latest I would say.

Correct.

Can't see us investing heavilythere though. Would imagine O'nien and Ballard are almost guaranteed starters. Think the only way we get a CB is a young kid or a loan

Quite possibly, I wouldn't be against that so long as its competent cover for O'nien and Ballard

This is assuming we play 4atb mind, Le Bris might even want to play a 3 back yet, might need more cover then if he doesn't fancy one of Alese/Hume/Hjelde to play CB
