I wasn’t particularly disappointed with getting rid of Mowbray. He looked like he’d reached the end of the road with us. The football had gone rapidly downhill and he wasn’t getting the best out of players. Some of the players we recruited from that could have been better in the right hands i.e not Mowbray, Beale or Dodds and I still have high hopes for Rusyn, Pembele and AA.
Just one other point. Why give Boro as an example earlier to say how they’re doing things better than us? What success have they had recently? How long have they been in this league? No doubt because of where you are you get a lot of stick from smoggies but give them this season and that’s it - their future bragging rights will be limited in my view.

They were an obvious club to use as an example based from the fact they were also in the playoffs last season and yes obviously they are also a local team so i know more about them than most other teams in the league. It pains me to say but they have much more ambition than we do

Boro have had zero success but they are appartently a really ambitious club - no proof of this other than they spent 4.5 million on a player

When we were in L1, we spent 3 million on Grigg - going by the logic of some, that was a really ambitious move. It wasnt at all, it was a stupid move that had very little potential of being a good deal

Folk look at transfer fees and decide whether a club is ambitious by how much they spend. Thats not the case at all, money talks in football but its what we do with it

Grigg cost more than Stewart (from a bargin basket club as some would say)

Ndong cost more than larsson, i know which one i would prefer

Rodwell, well the less said about him the better

Spending money doesnt make you ambitious, its what you do with the money that you spend that is key

Having a plan and trying to do something different is ambitious imo, signing players with high potential is ambitious

Now we didnt get the balance right at all this season and thats what we are all in agreeement with. It led to an inbalanced squad, then shocking appointments just compounded the mistakes of the transfer windows

I get folk being nervous until they see who the manager is and what players are signed - lets just see what happens, the season starts in 3 months so plenty time to get things back on thr right track

Good post mate. I hate the fact some posters on here think that no one is allowed to speak about the obvious flaws we have as a club and we must all trust the plan. Its been an absolute sh@t show of a season from sacking Mogga, to hiring Beale and then letting Dodds take control. Bringing Dack in, selling Batth, allowing Gooch and Pritch to go, and i dont even want to get started again on how we done in the last 2 transfer windows.

What we are seeing now is an absolute shambles, and to think this time last year we looked like a club that was on the rise again with a manager we all loved and a brilliant team playing amazing football with a good mix of youth and experienced players.

We are going backwards and things need to change asap on and off the pitch.
Think the issue is, we all know there's been an issue this season, now there's nothing to do so we are talking about the same things over and over, waiting for them to put things right, which is their ambition. It's clear they want a long term manager that's modern. They know they fkd up I think, with some things.

We just need a bit positivity so we stop stewing.

Spot on. I just don’t see any argument that Boro are more ambitious than us.

I know people love to have an aneurism and claim that it’s all just hearsay because nobody knows the true cost of wages but just seen a post listing all 24 clubs in the championship in order of wage bill.

The bottom 5 consists of Rotherham, Plymouth, Blackburn, Huddersfield and Us. The top 5 is made up of 5 of the top 6, barring Ipswich.

Well, if that's true, surely that's brilliant news. Finishing mid table on one of the five lowest wage bills in the division would suggest that our recruitment team are doing a fine job and our coaches are doing a good job too. If it was true for last season, when we finished in the playoffs, that's even better. Would suggest that a more settled coaching set up next season will see us progress, even if we don't spend much more money.

I'd doubt the accuracy of those stats, but it's very likely we're bottom half in terms of wage bill and that is specifically because we have recruited young players from abroad on long term contracts, rather than journeyman Championship players on big wages, as the likes of Stoke have done.

It is a bit risk-reward but Stoke is a great example of the sort of thing we have done in the past and failed with, this new tact has worked for us since KLD walked through the doors, a bad season isn't a reason to revert to the tried-and-failed methods of the past.

Investment into our academy shows ambition. You can take any single factor you want and make it suit an argument. I’m just not buying it that Boro are doing things better than us.

They literally are though as much as that might hurt you. Google their transfer activities compared to ours over the last few years and then youll see

No point arguing mate, youll just go around in circles

We had a higher net spend than Boro so going by the theory of whoever spends the most is more ambitious then its us

Add in last season and we have spent 8 million more than we've sold players for

Boro have made 28 millions more in transfers out than theyve spent

Two houses for sale.

Both identical spec, in very similar locations, both valued the same.

One goes through a bidding war and the new owner pays 25% more than initial asking price.

The other stays on the market for months, new owner pays 25% under asking price.

Which buyer would you rather be?
