Paddy McNair has announced he is leaving Middlesbrough after six years at the club.

In a post on Instagram, he said: "After six years and 219 appearance’s my time Middlesbrough has come to an end.

"Big thank you to all of the players, staff and the fans for the support throughout the years.

"Looking forward to the next chapter"

Id have him back in a heartbeat
Gets injured too much for me, only played 6 games for them in 2024 - only played 21 league games for them this season

id be worried about his injury record plus his performances last 2 seasons havent been great from what I've seen of him

Every Boro fan i know is sad to see him leave. He the experience were crying out for and covers about 4 different positions on the pitch

He is experienced n used to be class on his day but his injuries are an issue (theyve taken a toil on his performances imo). We are crying out for experience but experience that can play every week n not sure hes that player any more

Yeah true, not sure what the issue is there like but im sure a thorough medical would be done before anyone signs him

Be interesting to see who the promoted 3 release, half hoping Leeds go up so Cresswell is 100% available think he’d be perfect alongside Ballard

Yeah im not sure if its just been 1 injury thats impacted him all season or several

I like his versatility but feel we need to focus on players who are really strong in 1 position - we seem to have quite a few players that can play a few positions without being specialised in any of them

Sunderland have released 20-year-old striker Harry Gardiner, The Echo has learned.

Gardiner signed a new one-year deal at the club last summer, extending his stay on Wearside until 2024. However, the club have opted against offering the forward a new deal with the youngster now set to depart, as first revealed by BBC Look North.

If he was up for it he'd of been on loan at a league team the past 6 months.

Good luck to the lad.

We still have Jack Diamond, Matete and Embleton on our books aswell.
We need a big summer sorting this current squad out.

The Patterson to Liverpool move seems strange to me. Leaving his boyhood club where he's a nailed on starter to be a back up doesn't seem like a good move to me. It also seems like a strange move for Liverpool considering his ability with the ball at his feet is probably the weakest part of his game.

For us though, £12m would represent good business if we could bring Johannson (or someone of that level in) for around £1m.

Matty Young is the future number 1 of this club and I'd want his route into the first team clear for a couple of years' time so no need to overspend in that position.

I've got to agree with you in the bold bit. I can never understand footballers who say they just want to play then go and spend most of their career sitting on the bench. It can only be money motivated. Yes they have a short career but what can you look back on by winning medals just for being a substitute. Can you imagine after he's retired - "What did you get that medal for dad?" "Sitting on my arse son watching a match at Wembley"

Summer rebuild might be a lot harder than we would want or hope. I cant believe Clarke will stay. Heard that Patterson is attracting real interest. I am still very nervous about Neil, the big scouts never stopped coming. Also been told Hume is a favourite of a couple of prem clubs.

When we say a busy summer, it really could be, but I would be really worried if all of those left. Hell of an overhaul to make.
Get the right coach and Neil isn't going anywhere

Aye we do Tees. Some need moving on and some need a season on loan to see how they develop, because most of the players signed in the last couple of windows are just not ready for Championship football.
