It might be mate, but i reckon he'll be off with an ex player re-joining us
Joffy?

That’s where the problem lies. When was the last time we signed the ‘right’ players? The last 3 transfer windows have been really poor. Who’s came in and instantly made an impact? There’s only really Jobe and being honest he’s played far too much football this season, been garbage for long spells. The striker situation is a shambles too. What would you class as big changes?
I dont class signing 4 (minimum) players to improve our team/squad as big changes (that is a normal transfer window for almost all teams). A good manager who improves what we have will make a HUGE difference.
For me big changes, are things that will take multiple windows to fix - we arent in that place. The big changes happened when KS came into the club as we had so much dead wood. I dont think we have lots of dead wood in this squad
I think some need moved on permanently, some will need loan moves and potentially 1 of our star players will go
But you look at most teams in the championship and theyll be exactly the same
Thats why some say its not massive changes needed, its all about signing the right players and most importantly getting the right manager in
I agree about last 3 windows but weve also had 2 very good summer windows the 2 before that - thats me clinging to hopeThat’s where the problem lies. There’s no doubt we’ll lose Clarke and imo we’ll be very lucky to keep Dan Neil. I’d want those replacing properly. We lack leadership. I’d like to see at least 5 players who’ve done it at this level before, signed.
Big changes for me would be having a starting XI of decent age and experience at this level. Not lining up with a bunch of bairns week in, week out.
The right manager/coach is the most important though, absolutely.
Ultimately, I just want SAFC to compete and for us to have some hope heading towards the end of a season. Last year was great, this year really poorly.I agree about last 3 windows but weve also had 2 very good summer windows the 2 before that - thats me clinging to hope
My point is that while it might seem big changes, we are only a good window away from competing - that is very very do-able
Last summer was a bad window and it meant we had a poor year so a good one can change that
I think there will be big changes this summer in terms of key positions - head coach and likely a director of football but on the field i honestly dont believe its big
The core of our team is still good and when you sign young players you hope they kick on each season, so hopefully the likes of Jobe, rigg, adil, pembele, ba, mundle etc will all be better next season with a full yr or more under their belts
I know how much clubs fortune changes with just 1 good appointment and thats where we are. Beale was the opposite of that for us and set us back. A good appointment changes everything, so while it is a big decision, i dont believe big changes are needed (every tranfser window is big imo)
This summer is no doubt a huge summer and one we have to get spot on
Agreed, i think a positive annoucement on thr manager front will give us something to be excited aboutUltimately, I just want SAFC to compete and for us to have some hope heading towards the end of a season. Last year was great, this year really poorly.
Fingers crossed we nail the coach appointment. That would be a good start.
Would we get owt from a sell on?You must log in or register to see media
Not so sure. Knowing the old regimes - probably notWould we get owt from a sell on?

I don't mind Joffy but can't see him returningHope not
Good player when used correctly.I don't mind Joffy but can't see him returning

I also think the order of announcing signings is important this summer. I honestly dont mind us signing a couple exciting young players but those type of signings will be better annouced after championship ready players are announced
For example if we are signing chris willock, announcing him as our 1st signing will give us all a boost that theyve learnt from previous mistakes
Im excited about the summer window, but as a scout i alway am!! Its our opportunity to improve and set us up for this season
Usually, I quite like all the suspense around appointing a manager but this time, I just want it done and I'm getting a bit bored of the speculation. The sooner someone is in the better.A positive, early announcement is very necessary imo. They've had since mid-Feb to get it sorted.

If we have to wait a little bit longer for the right candidate though, I can accept that. Better than them appointing the first person that is available.

Agreed. I rate him as a footballer, just can’t be relying on him as the number 9.I wouldn't mind Gelhardt back, if he was used properly, alongside a proper no.9.
Nope Donald sold it for 100k. We were due a sell on percentage or a lumper if he signed a new deal. Donald approached Everton to scrape together what money he could so they offered us the 100k instead and he took itWould we get owt from a sell on?
