I’m getting nervy but I’m naturally a worrier no matter how hard I try not too haha, still stansfield etc yet to go anyway like you say he’d be a great option wether a loan or a perm, not hitting self destruct yet just trying to focus on tomorrow and looking forward to hopefully a positive showing, time to shine Mayenda lad
Aye i get that, i tend to focus on improvements areas all the time rather than things we are doing well.

When i take a step back im happy with what weve done so far, i wanted an experienced no2 - got that, wanted a quality CM to compliment Neil - got that and i wanted another Xfactor player - got that

We got players folk thought would leave in Ballard n Rigg tied to new deals, no chance theyd name Neil captain if he was going anywhere and Clarke hasnt gone (plus i cant see where he goes now)

Def still work to do but things are looking up imo

To me it reinforces my belief that we should be looking to sell someone. I don't want the owner to fund transfers when we don't need them to.

The self sustaining stuff the club have been big on recently only works if we are making money though, which we aren't.

Boro are having on paper a cracking window and that is being funded by player sales. Norwich are already spending the Sara money. Bristol City have spend around £6m on two forwards because of the Alex Scott sale last summer.

Until we bring in some money we will have to continue to shop in the bargain section, unfortunately.
Yeah mate, this is what I was getting at by being hamstrung financially, we can't spend more than 2 mill on a striker it seems...we must've been robbing Caen blind previously, again though, proved how slow we are. They got to sell their other striker beforehand.

Believe we should've signed a striker before we even got a manager.

All of this is exactly why my frustrations over the lack of striker are so high. We are so close to being a very good side, we have done some great business this summer in terms of signings and new deals, off the pitch is looking better than it has in decades. We are so close.

It's very, very poor we don't have a forward in for tomorrow. No excuses.

We are risking a poor start, risking damaging Mayenda's confidence and development, risking having to pay significantly over the odds at the end of a window, all for absolutely no reason.

We have a good recruitment team who have found some gems for bargain prices in other positions, give them some money to identify a forward who can play in this system.

Many other clubs have signed some pretty good forwards, why are we struggling so much?
Agree its been poor, but you could easily say the complete opposite about Mayenda. He gets off to a good start, builds confidence and looks the part - he could go from strength to strength

Theres also players that go for cheaper at the end of windows as teams just want them out the squad

Its why i love n hate scouting, so so hard to know what will happen in a window

All of this and a coach who so far seems to play a style that suits our players I’m definitely happier with how things have gone since the end of the season, just that last piece of the jigsaw to go! I think it’ll be pre Burnley at the earliest but I’m always wrong so here’s hoping it’s earlier!

We def are mate, as i said im still relaxed about it (just)!!

I might have been in the minority but i actually thought CM was the biggest priority - closely followed by a striker. Just feel CM is where so many games are won n lost and i feel Browne will massively help us there

Anyway im off work for 10 weeks now so probably more relaxed because of that!!!

Sorry like, I’m pretty balanced. It’s okay every now and then to be concerned about the club. You don’t have to pretend everything’s fine all the time. Likewise you don’t have to pretend everything’s **** all the time.

This forum could really do with people not constantly calling out any sort of concern as “twisting” etc. there’s a difference between the likes of Monty who thinks everything is awful, and people being annoyed that we don’t have a striker signed before the new season starts.

My concern is that we want to sign “value”, which is much much easier earlier in the window. Which we’ve missed.
Well said

Some right embarrassing people on socials, every post from the club is met with comments about singing a striker. As if the social media person has anything to do with the transfers. The absolute weapons who tag Speakman as well. Dread to think what RTG is like...

Just been on there, everyone on here is happy clappers?

Who are the pretty good forwards that have gone elsewhere? Plus depends if we were after them or if they wanted to come

Plenty time to send some scouting reports into speakman then :emoticon-0105-wink:

Personally a big fan of Sinclair Armstrong, have mentioned him before on here. Think he has all the raw tools to become a top forward and has some great shot placement data which I think will lead him to become the goalscorer he currently isn't. We reportedly bid for him.

Intrigued by Makhtar Gueye who has went to Blackburn. 6ft5, ridiculously good in the air but lacks abit in possession. For the price I would've been okay with him.

Fally Mayulu is another with some ridiculous attributes. Bristol City have really went for potential over proven with their two strikers. Powerful player.

Thomas-Asante has the work rate and physical presence to fit this system. Lacks some composure but gets in great positions.

We aren't going to get the perfect player in our price range and that is okay, but these 4 in particular really interest me. Think they will do pretty well in the championship.

really not getting this 'mendy problem' ...it appears that everyone was agreed before the new regime took over so i take from that we have agreed wage/bonus/signing on fees etc etc, player is/was very happy to move but ne regime want more cash for him (seems his contract had 'verbal' clauses in that mean nowt.

my point is, the club know exactly what they will get and exactly what they need to give the player...if the new mob want an extra couple of million and mendy is the 'main choice' then surely it would be worth giving them it, 2 mill is feck all in todays markets and it saves having to start all over again with clubs sniffing 'desperation' and throwing 4 or 5 million onto every striker we look at.

i honestly still think we will get it over the line and we can all relax.

Only saying what I’ve seen and heard myself. Not an ITK at all but adds up with how quiet and little activity we’ve had feels like Mendy really was the main target
We're always quiet, I think hardly anyone knows now. I know a few at the club and they won't say anything now. Don't think the hierarchy like stuff getting out <laugh>

What if we're after quality from higher up than ourselves that won't know if they'll feature till later on in the window.

We always play late, especially in August. I'd certainly class the likes of broadhead or cirkin etc as value.

I’m intrigued to see Zan Celar. He’s a bit of a gamble and he wouldn’t have been top of my list but at £2M we could have done a lot worse. Certainly better than what we have although I struggle to judge the quality of the Swiss league. QPR could have got a bargain.

It’s such a chess game knowing when to push a deal through or holding for better quality or a better deal.
