Just watched some clips of Topi Keskinen. Definitely a left winger, lightning quick and looks composed in the final third in terms of being able to produce some final product.

Can't see it happening unless Clarke leaves though.

That does your head in. Yes, we could probably afford to pay £3 million plus for Mendy but that doesn't mean it's the right thing to do. Mendy may be excellent in the Championship but the fact there is no track record of that halves his value to us. Good to see the club are sticking to their guns for the right deal.

I agree 100%. There is a level of risk with Mendy re the level he has performed at. If the club have a value then fair play. No comparison as players but we all remember Jack Ross telling Donald the value of Grigg and Donald just kept going. I trust this lot not to have the mickey taken on fees and a 30 year wont have resale value so it is a hit to FFP in the future.

We can always pay another million or two for a player ...

... but that soon adds up to another £20m and may mean we can't afford wage increases to keep the likes of Ballard and Neil here.

Had to clear out the loft at my dad's and found a box of memorabilia I'd kept from way back including my ST from the last year at Roker.

My son couldn't believe that's what we used to use and you are correct, the tickets for reserve games and cup matches were all in the back of the book.

Unfortunately we aren’t going to get a striker who’s scored loads of goals in the prem etc though and if we do it’ll be someone at the end of their career with no resale value. Or it’ll be a young loanee whos got no goals at this level I think Mendy is probably as good as we can hope for in terms of goals scored recently at a half decent level. No idea around the financials on this one though but if it’s squabbling over the sake of £500k for example and we lose him to a championship rival it’s not great. If it’s millions then fair enough.
