multiple people have heard he's having a medical, don't think roker report will post that he flew in yesterday if they didn't know for sure. Also that Di Canio poster on RTG has said the same that he has signed and here for a medical even quoted the fee. He's been bang on for the past year too

lets see - some of it could be confirmation bias. Lets hope Keith is wrong. He specifically says in one of his replies that its not true Mendy is on wearside.

I hope he just doesn't know otherwise my mood is decreasing <laugh>

I'm completely lost with our current recruitment strategy, when you think something is out of bounds, they did it anyway, there's obviously a strategy but it will become more clear when the season starts, the only way these links and signings make much sense to me is if we are ready to shift on more than a couple of players soon.

Looks like it mate. After these two..if they happen..I would think max one more in and then at least half a dozen out, maybe more.

Nelson, like Poveda, makes sense if we offload some players. I'd be comfortable going into the season with Ballard, O'Nien, Nelson and Hjelde with Seelt returning at some point. But that requires Triantis and Johnson getting good loan moves and Anderson leaving probably on a permanent. I think Alese will play left back more often than not, especially with Cirkins history.

FWIW assuming Poveda and Mendy sign, the average age of our 4 signings this summer will be 29.25.

Pretty clear the club have taken onboard the need for older players. Still think we'd be better off with more players in their prime around 25-28.
Boring. I'd prefer the club to stick to their policy of signing younger players whose careers have stalled a little bit. Becoming a place where former wunderkinds can come to resurrect their careers gives us a strong identity. That's the next best thing to a team full of local lads. I don't want us to be just another team that competes at the top end of the Championship and occasionally gets into the Premier League, or even a mid table Premier League side. That's not any kind of meaningful ambition and that's what the Browne and Mendy signings smell like to me. I want us to have an identity that means something beyond our fanbase. I'd hate to be either of the Sheffield clubs (Sheffield FC notwithstanding) or Forest or Norwich or Wolves or Preston or Southampton; just bland mush.

Been told Poveda deal is likely a 3 year with a plus one. Basic terms are modest but appearance related bonuses are juicy.
Sensible given his injury record but if he stays fit he’s a very exciting player and one we’ll enjoy watching, he gets decent money in the process

Mendy is such a weird one, good sources are at odds with each other on whether he is here or not
