The club will have a fair idea. Fair point on the difference between Evans and this lad, I wasn't really making a comparison, bit of a reductio ad absurdum to make a broader point.
If he’s ready for championship football why wasn’t he in and around Leicesters team last season though? I’m not saying he isn’t by the way just stating that he was at a champ club last season, albeit it one with several decent CB’s, and he couldn’t even make the bench regularly so he was well out of the picture for them why has he all of a sudden turned into someone that should start for us?
Just really want us to nail down an experienced CB personally, don’t want to see another young lad come in and rarely feature for us. Feels like a waste
Only the cream get to the top though and we've shown with Neil, Rigg, Embleton, Gooch, Patterson that youth will get a chance. We can't just give kids a chance if they aren't ready or good enough
Could we look at the Leicester CB link as a cheap/shrewd way to reinforce our defensive options in the short term? Like's been said, Seelt is out, Ballard is coming back to fitness, and Alese has had a few injury issues. Anderson is an unknown quantity in the championship. Then we'll have more cash left (fees and wages) for other positions. * Realise I've forgotten about Triantis there. O'Nien and Hjelde are fairly solid and could start at CB for us
This is gonna be true of any loan signing we make tbh We'll wonder why we signed them and prioritised the development of other clubs' players - right up to the point that they prove themselves to be a higher level of class than we are capable of getting on a permanent. It was exactly what happened with Amad. I don't mind us taking one or two punts like this each season. They either work out and or they don't. But at least we won't be totally reliant on it with this lad.
Never seen him play but Leicester had millions of pounds of defenders and were spending their way to promotion. He's had another year experience. I know absolutely f all about the guy but just playing devils advocate tbh.
Yeah. Being succinct, that's my point too. Time for less punts and more oven ready championships players.
If it means we can get our young lads out to gain experience and not leave us short it will be anything but a waste
But they look at our young players every day and there is a clear pathway to our first team. But only the very very best make it to first team. 99% simply aren't good enough no matter how many chances we give them. I don't mind the odd loan signing and if he's better then why not. As I said, I know nowt about him but think it's unfair to write him off based on a few stats.
As I said, he may turn out to be great. However, I am at the stage now where I want us to reduce the chances of any new signing having minimal or zero impact. We have had a few windows where this is the case and our form and league position has paid the price. Time to up the ante and make a good go of it. Please to see some of the business done (or about to be) appears to be in this mould.
I'm completely lost with our current recruitment plan. When you think something is out of bounds, they did it anyway, there's obviously a plan, but it will become more clear when the season starts. The only way these links and signings make much sense to me is if we are ready to shift on more than a couple of players soon.
Pending Poveda & Mendy signing, that leave us strong in every position. Not just cover, but competition for places with a core squad of 25. I'm not certain we sell Clarke... but Embo & Matete to go; Hemir & Triantis on loan. Sell: Embo, Matete Loans: Hemir, Triantis Bishop (done @ Wycomnbe); Young (done @ Salford); Keepers - sorted. well stocked x 3 Right back: Hume; Huggins injured; Pembele as wing-back, but needs work Left back- Cirkin; Alese; Benette as wing-back? - defo needs work Centre-half: Ballard, ONien; Seelt, Hjelde..Alese Midfield: Neil, Browne, Rigg, Ekwah, Jobe, Adil, Ba Left-side, Clarke, Mundle Right-side: Roberts, Poveda Up-top: Mendy, Rusyn, Mayenda We also have under23s coming through: Watson,
multiple people have heard he's having a medical, don't think roker report will post that he flew in yesterday if they didn't know for sure. Also that Di Canio poster on RTG has said the same that he has signed and here for a medical even quoted the fee. He's been bang on for the past year too
