Best man is a villa fan, this is his view......Davis is a champ player. Won’t score but will run his nads off and let others have space. Workhorse. Philogene we would have kept but we’ll have a buy back. Another more exciting player but with high workrate. Just needs to work on final end product. He’s the more exciting of the two but Davis is someone who’d stay long term

We need to be mindful of FFP. But that's different from financial trouble in the traditional sense.

Acun has been whinging to all who will listen that he has money to invest that he can't.
I know, I know.....but football can be fickle and no matter how great acun is I fear a reading or derby situation if things go wrong

No suggestion of that so far - he's actively investing.

Obvs no one has a crystal ball but you can't go through life anticipating the worst when there's no evidence something is on the cards. I wouldn't leave the house if that was the case.

He will probably go elsewhere and score goals thats a given. But in my opinion he isn't talented enough to build the system around and adapt to. Compared to Delap (and even Tetteh at points last year) his hold up play is average and for a guy his size I can think of a few times he's been bullied off the ball. Building around him would also be short sighted for if he got injured which he seems to have ankle problems.

This isn't me hating on Oscar I think he's by far the best finisher at the club bar maybe Ozan but he just doesn't suit how we want to play

I actually think Connolly is the best finisher at the club. It’s not easy to score one-on-ones; takes real skill and composure. We saw last season that Óscar and Longman fluffed a few one-on-ones by either hitting them too close to the keeper or putting them wide.

We’ve had quite a shake-up this summer in terms of forwards. Don’t think many expected it. Tetteh’s gone and Óscar, Allahyar and Longman will probably go as well with the new signings supposedly coming in.

A goal or assist in every 4 apps over 88 championship games. It's not hugely prolific but aint too shabby either for someone who 'won't score'.

Baz Cooper has mentioned a sell-on clause as being the final piece but nothing about a buy-back, not that he'll know or publish every element of negotiations.

Good luck to any of our signings of course but out of all the options of the extra villa player I think davis is the one that excited me least
From what I have read, he seems perfect for the system LR is playing. High energy and will press. That’s not something that Oscar does particularly well. I’m really happy if we sign both. Lots of competition and strength in depth.

5 in 15 at Forest
7 in 34 at Watford

For someone who will give all to the team and suit our style and offers a goal threat, he’s not too shabby!
