It's because he's a defensive midfielder. It's funny but Derby played Bird in a more advanced role on Saturday and he looked completely lost by all accounts.

What has bugged me about this window is that we've been briefing that we're skimping elsewhere to spend our money on the forward line, but the only forwards we've signed have been cheaper ones

No different to last summer saying we'd spend most of our transfer budget on strikers then signing Oscar and Tetteh on frees. Yes they might have had big signing on bonuses, but it still falls a bit flat.

Weren't we close to sealing Haji Wright according to someone on here last summer. Honestly feels like if we'd landed him and Ndayishimiye we would have been ok. Probably worked our way down the targets list and ended up with Tetteh and Woods

I keep having to remind myself of the three or four more signings that LR is really excited about before the window shuts.

However the fear as always is that other teams step in on those targets and we end up with plan B's and C's.

Case in point.
Haji Wright - Goes from "Coventry rumour" to signing announced in one day.
Our rumour gets slammed in the press by the opposition manager, and is still playing in their first team a week later.

Didn't Cov sell their prize asset, then reinvested the dough. We don't have any assets, unless you want to put JG in that frame.

If we can get £1.5m for Tetteh I firmly believe we could get decent money for a few players. Allayhar, Oscar and Greaves probably the prime candidates

Since he’s gone to Cov now it doesn’t make a difference but @Steven Toast did say we were looking at him this summer as well. I don’t know if that was as a replacement if Óscar left or in addition to Óscar with Tetteh going.
 
Has Tetteh actually left yet? Officially gone?
Apologies if I’ve missed the move, I remember talk of a fee but then nothing
