Hull City have agreed a deal with Manchester City to sign striker Liam Delap on loan for the upcoming Championship season, with the talented youngster expected to become Liam Rosenior's first signing of the summer, sources close to the deal have told Hull Live.

It seems pretty clear that until we sell someone we're skint.

As a back up/squad player, Delap is alright. He'll come good at some point as his scoring record in PL2 is outstanding and it usually converts eventually. Whether that's next year, I'm not sure, but it'll be a cheapish body to add and at least he's had a season at this level already.

It's is a completely different signing if there's a buy option but I doubt there will be

Dont think anyone's said anything directly there's been some odd signs that point towards us being on a budget for sure.

- first two signings are loans of players that haven't quite worked elsewhere
- rumours of us selling Oscar and Greaves to free up FFP

For what its worth I think we are in the same boat as about 2/3rds of the championship. We could pay a nominal fee if needed but we do have to sell one of our best assets every so often to keep everything ticking over

I do get the feeling that this highlighting of the FFP rules and that we have to keep a close eye on it, to some degree is being used as a mechanism to temper fan's expectations. IMO if that is the case not a bad ploy to use, and at the same time is sort of highlighting the unfairness of the parachute payments, which we know Acun is critical of.

I'm all for us not overspending and getting into a financial message again, so whatever way they choose to do it, it is okay by me.
FFP will never be fair to those clubs that are not in receipt of it, FACT.

Its the only way to try and compete with parachute budgets.

Of course it's our choice whether to trade or stick, but developing talent, selling for profit in order to reinvest is the name of the game for most clubs now.

Selling in order to buy/strengthen is an entirely different scenario of course than selling to stay afloat or selling to 'keep our heads above water' as was one poster's choice of words - though that particular individual seems to be blaming others folks interpretation other than than his own choice of words when backtracking after chucking a hissy and pissing his pants.

As usual.

It's just very different to last year (which is a much safer option mind). To be honest, if Vinagre is fit he's a bit of a coup but Delap's just not really an exciting one but as has been mentioned he offers something different and if Rosie gets something out of him, he could bag a hatful. It's just for a side with top 6 aspirations who struggle to score goals, it's a risk

Connolly as well?

Baz has been briefing that we've moved on from Connolly.

To be fair he's said tonight that Vinagre's interest isn't as far down the line as everywhere else is saying. Although, there's some decent sources saying it's all but done
