Wouldn’t have thought Smallbone would leave Southampton this summer tbh. He’s a local lad, Southampton fan and even during his loan at Stoke when asked if he wanted to make it permanent he said something along the lines of ‘in all honesty, despite enjoying my time at Stoke, I would love to go back to Southampton and fight for my place there as it’s my boyhood club’. He’ll get game time for Southampton in the Championship.
If we were unbiased, would a player who had no links to us or Stoke, who was getting offered the same wage at both, pick us over them?

Are Ipswich a wealthy club? This looks like bollocks but I wouldn’t be completely against the idea of cashing in on Óscar if we sign someone like Haji Wright as a replacement. £4 million seems quite low though.
