Maybe he thought he was better than he is. Maybe he underestimated the quality of the Championship and the players he would be competing for a starting berth with. Again - who would we have dropped last season for him to play? If his career has gone backwards maybe he should take a look at himself.

He had been here over half a season when we decided to take him on a permanent so we have had plenty of time to look at him. He wasn’t playing at the time then and it seemed an odd thing to do to sign him full time.

It would be extremely odd for him to have joined us as a development project for the reason listed previously.

He must have been expecting to start playing and never did. He is definitely in a much worse position now than he was this time last summer.

Maybe he did decide it would be better to be a hull city development player than a Chelsea development player and we haven’t shafted him at all but I highly doubt that.

He didn't have to sign the contract if he didn't back himself. We didn't force him.

Why sign him on a permanent in the first place? I highly doubt he swapped being a Chelsea development player for being a Hull City development player without some expectation of being a first team player. He would have far more resources and opportunities at his disposal to develop as a Chelsea u23.

He’s now gone backwards from a loan to the 2nd tier last season where apparently lots of clubs had interest in him to a loan to the 3rd tier. So he’s gone backwards.

****ed about, factamundo, case closed.
Rightly or wrongly it seems to be the Doncaster game that convinced Rosenior he wasn't ready. Maybe he saw something we didn't, maybe Rosenior's being a **** just for the sake of it, or maybe he just wants Simons to get some game time. Football can certainly appear ruthless at times.

My take on the transfer window is: Its not perfect. We are probably one or two proven Championship players short of the promotion pack. But who has had a perfect transfer window?

Oscar leaving without replacement is not ideal - but unlike last year we have players fit and available that can be selected and do a different kind of job to him. They may look at that problem again in January if needed. I'm looking forward to seeing how well we do and if its not at least top half and more likely top 10 I'll be disappointed and then really start thinking about if we do have the right coaching staff for the future.

Some spent all summer banging on about signing a DM and then we do and they aren't happy about it. I'd rather have Morton who has a year experience in a good side in this league than someone from abroad who's never played English football. Equally as mentioned I can't understand why some were happy to place all their faith in Simons from the limited view we've had.

This thread has been constantly interesting but not always for the right reasons. I don't see anyone saying that decisions can't be questioned or that every thing Acun or Rosie say or do can't be discussed, but the constant need to disparage how well the club is performing to me feels absurd. For example, calling Rosie 'motormouth' is so odd to me, especially when he's done a half-decent job so far (and now we can really start judging him with more of his players in the side). The black and white nature of 'we are signing LOADS of good youngsters, we are going to be so good based on our stats' v 'they clearly have no idea what they are doing because we haven't blown the budget on XXX' feels so detrimental after a bruising few years under the Allams.

I'll probably get called all sorts for this post but bloody hell. Have some of you got high blood pressure?

Some stuff I heard from my industry contacts:

Docherty is likely to leave in January - but could be the summer too

Some other squad players will leave in January, can't provide names just yet, but will become clear in January or May/June latest

We are deffo looking at strengthening in the striker department. There could be some potential movement in January.

I've also heard that a few players are unhappy with the current management. Some other players quite like it too though.

There could well be a surprise player leaving (other ITK types will know) as he has suitors, but a firm offer might not come just yet. One to watch.

Just passing on what I've heard

I’ve heard similar things from several people, including another poster on here. Won’t go into detail though as a lot of it was told in confidence and some have jobs at the club or are affiliated in some way or other.

He must have been expecting to start playing and never did.

But why should he just expect a starting berth? Like anyone else he should have to earn his place in the team. I hope he has a great loan and comes back to us ready to seriously challenge for a starting spot - but it shouldn't just be handed to him because he came from Chelsea.

I doubt there are many clubs that don't have a few unhappy players.

I highly doubt he’s sat smoking a *** leaning on the bar saying I should have a place in the team
Let’s see what the gaffer says
said:"I’m absolutely delighted to tie Xavier down on a long-term deal.

"We’ve worked really hard to get Xavi to commit his future to the club and he’s a big part of my plans.

"He’s got undoubted potential and quality, an outstanding attitude and trains at 100% all the time.

"He’s got Premier League physicality and athleticism. If we can help him improve his technical aspects and tactical understanding of the game, we’ve got a fantastic asset for the club."

so he’ll have no idea how to develop as rosenior wants as he’s not here for a year

we signed him cos we thought he’s good enough to play
Not a permanent fixture in the team
But bringing him on with sub appearances and filling in when injured in an area we are short in

ah well

Me neither but like I said, I’ve been told similar things and the reasons why by several people but I won’t go into more detail out of respect for them. There are also players who are very happy and settled by all accounts.

I would have kept him in the squad for this reason. Maybe either he or Rosie or both thought he'd be better off playing somewhere else every week?

He’s clearly better off playing elsewhere as I don’t see a pathway into the team for him other than in an absolute crisis.

All I’m saying is there’s no way he’s swapped his situation at Chelsea to be in the same situation here. It just doesn’t happen that way round, we poach development projects from the likes of Oldham and Southend, and the likes of Chelsea take them from us.

So clearly for him to have signed here permanently we must have been leading him on that he was going to be getting first team games, otherwise why else would he bother?

I think he’d only made one appearance when we decided to take him on as well hadn’t he or a bare spattering of minutes at most. He was an invisible man like Vale or M’Hand yet bizarrely we decided to sign this one on a permanent.

Or maybe he realized that with around 50 first team squad players and countless youngsters out on loan his best option to further his career - in football as opposed to cash terms - would be to leave Chelsea. (I'm not arguing that his career has furthered - perhaps it has stalled). Also we don't know what his agent was telling him to do - while no doubt thinking of his cut. I don't know about leading him on - maybe we said if he proved himself in training he'd get his chance or something like that. Maybe it was just last years circumstances (possible relegation) or maybe he just isn't as good as the players ahead of him that has kept his chances and appearances to a minimum.
Lots of maybe's and all speculation I know and we'll probably never know the truth of what exactly has gone on.
