I just hope our signings allow for players to be able settle in to their proper positions, too many square pegs for too long now.

Tan is speaking of 4 or 5 signings. We know a GK, LB, Striker, Wide player and a 10 are the positions which are the priorities.

Defensive record under Rosy suggests a holding player would come after those in the priority list. Don't get me wrong I'd love to see one come in, but I think it will depend on who leaves first.
Why are we looking for a 10 with Traore, Tufan & Tetteh already on our books?

Tetteh is more of a striker, but yeah I was surprised when Baz then ST said as much.

Thing is though both Tufan and Traore can play different roles not just 10 so maybe that's something to do with it.

Yeah, but if Tetteh plays as 10, it’s 2 up top, Traore or Tufan as wingers seems highly unlikely, especially if that’s a priority, I think we have decent cover with Longman & Vaughn, if we can get players in there we should be ok.
Im still surprised we’re chasing a GK so hard, can’t have much faith in TLT or the kids if that’s the case. I could understand if a decent player, like Darlow becomes available, but to be chasing a 36 year old seems weird to me. If I was Ingram, I’d be pissed off, if I was one of the others, I’d be looking to get out & say that the people in charge were incompetent.

Who's 36 that we're chasing?

Agree. I said as much when we signed TLT that it was a weird signing, and really emphasises that we went pretty scattergun last summer without a clear plan or direction. Heaton I don't hate as a back up to Ingram, and TLT should be going on loan to L1 which is a step up from where he was last season.

If Heaton does come, he certainly won’t be coming as back up to Ingram

Perhaps, but I think just like with Baxter and Darlow before him, I would think Ingram would be given the chance to prove himself as number one. Otherwise Heaton shouldn't be coming in.

He’s just spent the season as Man U’s number 2, he isn’t going to drop down to a mid table championship club to sit on their bench instead. If he arrives before the first game of the season he’ll start on the opening day and it’s his shirt to lose.

He was United's number 3 for the majority of the season

He played 2 games in the EFL cup.

No minutes of any premier league, FA cup or European game.

He's a 500k signing with a couple of years as no 2 in the tank at best.

I dont think we’d be actively looking for a capable number 1 if Rosie felt he wanted Ingram to have chance to prove himself

Then if I was Ingram I'd be looking for a new club. This very public pursuit of a number one wouldn't be making him feel particularly good. Rosie has always said it's a team picked on merits and everyone has a chance to win a starting position, but if Ingram is being written off I'd be out the door.

I think all the signs point to Greaves leaving this summer. We seem to be looking at a left sided centre back and Tan is pretty clear that there's serious interest in him, and reading between the lines I get the sense we're pretty happy to sell him for a decent fee now, at a time when McLoughlin has proven he's a more than capable first choice in that position and in fact, it's becoming awkward to fit them both in.
