I can't blame Eldin, he was meant to be on stupid money at Leicester, something like £30k a week and he only really had that one decent season for us. Even though he's in the MLS now he's only guaranteed $112k for the year (they publish all the basic salaries) and is LAFC's back up keeper.
True but Fabrizio Romano’s reporting on Ziyech, Koulibaly and Mendy as being quite close to being done.
Not every player enjoys playing or is turned on by winning things. It might just be a way for him to get as rich as he can as quickly as he can and get out of the game.
Always remember Assou Ekotto talking about how he didn't like football that much Found a good article on it https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.th.../may/01/benoit-assou-ekotto-tottenham-hotspur
The Tan interview on humberside and HDM makes me think the club are being way more cautious about wages. Whether that's because their hands have been forced or they're being preventative of getting in the mud remains to be seen. Suspect we get 2 or 3 early doors and wait for later in the window when some more cost effective options become available
Do we actually need many through the door? I mean the squad looks a bit overloaded? Other than a keeper, and a replacement for Elder, I don't see a massive rush....
If that’s the case then last summer’s window was quite poor in hindsight. Sure we signed some good players like Seri, Tufan, Christie and Óscar but we also wasted a lot on the likes of Sinik, Woods, Vale, Pelkas in terms of wages and/or transfer fees. I’m still confused as to how we went from having the largest FFP headroom in the Championship plus the money we got from KLP, more tickets sold, Corendon and Efes sponsorships etc. to now being too close to our FFP limit on losses over three years.
Because our turnover is a lot less than other clubs and the headroom thing was Allam spin to market the club?
Think its those latter players that have done us in. Especially as you can't get a fee for 2 of them and I think we'd be lucky to recoup on Woods and Sinik. Top 10 wage budget is something you just have to play around with. It's the reality for all non parachute teams until this new TV deal hits and even then I dont think it scratches the surface until the premier league pull their finger out regarding money distribution
So we were still in the green going into the 22/23 season and sold KLP for about £16 million. Even with the new players’ transfer fees and wages amortised over the length of their contracts, I still don’t see how that makes us close to the £30 million limit on losses over three years?
